Taunton has got the go-ahead to stage today’s all-hurdle card after passing a morning inspection of the rain-soaked course.
Despite 14mm of rain in the last 24 hours leaving the ground heavy, the six-race card, starting at 2.05, will go ahead as planned. The middle hurdle in back straight will be omitted.
We’re also set for another cracking midweek card at Doncaster tomorrow, for which the fields will be confirmed later this morning. The ground is soft, good to soft in places (Chase) and good to soft, soft in places (Hurdle)
In Ireland, Philip Fenton, trainer of Irish Hennessy winner and Cheltenham Gold Cup third-favourite Last Instalment, is scheduled to appear at a County Tipperary court on Thursday charged with the possession of banned substances.
The Department of Agriculture brought the case following an inspection of Fenton’s yard in January 2012.
A statement said: “The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine confirms that a hearing is scheduled for Carrick-on-Suir District Court on Thursday, February 20.
