Wednesday Newsletter – 20th February

Meets from Donny & Ludlow with Timeform for Punchestown below. At Ludlow, (16.10), Dan Skelton has Redzor out on first run after wind surgery since a poor run LTO – prior he had looked well in the paddock at Aintree and ran up to that appearance with a solid 2nd place.

If he matches that when the trainer wasn’t firing on all cylinders, looks ripe  for at least a slot at a wipes yer face price.

There’s a couple of member suggestions below.

139 12. ALLEZ DANCE W. P. Mullins P. Townend
115 9. TOP OF THE CHARTS Gavin Patrick Cromwell S. G. McDermott
106p 3. GALILEAN Joseph Patrick O’Brien M. P. Walsh

Analyst’s Verdict:
Allez Dance showed only fair form for her previous stable in France, yet she has subsequently made a highly interesting yard switch and could be the way to go without the benefit of market clues. Expensive recruit from points Timber House is interesting for Gordon Elliott though, ahead of Galilean who rates a likely improver.

Timeform Top Rated
135p 5. INSULT Henry de Bromhead Rachael Blackmore
134 3. CALICOJACK Noel Meade Sean Flanagan
125p 1. FINAL LIST Gordon Elliott J. W. Kennedy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Insult made a promising start to his career when runner-up at Tramore, closing all the way to the line, and can go one better. His stablemate Big Nick may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Calicojack and Final List.

2.40 Smart Money’s On Coral Quevega Mares Hurdle (Listed) 2½m50y

Timeform Top Rated
166p 1. LAURINA W. P. Mullins R. Walsh
158 4. STORMY IRELAND W. P. Mullins P. Townend
157 5. ALLETRIX Mrs J. Harrington Robbie Power

Analyst’s Verdict:
Laurina is the standout here in a race that Willie Mullins looks to have cornered, a reproduction of her rout of Sensulano at Sandown likely to be enough to complete the 6-timer here before her sights are set on Cheltenham. The same connections will be hopeful of a big run from the front-running Stormy Ireland, while another solid effort is assured from Alletrix.

3.15 Pertemps Network Group Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier) 3m

158 9. ITS ALL GUESSWORK Gordon Elliott M. A. Enright
157 5. OSCAR KNIGHT Thomas Mullins M. P. Walsh
154 11. DRUMCONNOR LAD A. P. Keatley C. P. McNamara (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Its All Guesswork would likely have finished placed but for a late fall in the Munster National when last seen in October and he lurks on a very dangerous mark on his first run since reverting to hurdles. This is a tricky puzzle to solve though, with stablemate Moratorium progressing fast and Tin Soldier also requires a market check on reappearance.

3.50 Coral Bet & Get Club Mares Maiden Hurdle 2¾m

132 12. WHATUCALLHER Edward P. Harty R. C. Colgan
118 1. SUNRISE LADY Conor O’Dwyer R. A. Doyle (5)
114 3. AMARILLO ROSE Liam Lennon E. O’Connell (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mount Ida was a comfortable winner of her second start in points in December and there’s every chance she will prove a good deal better than her opposition. Whatucallher can provide the main threat ahead of The Caddy Rose.

111 18. TUNGSTEN KID John Brassil C. Brassil (5)
110 6. ASK DAVID Timothy Doyle R. P. Treacy (3)
108 1. STAR OF OSCAR Eoin Doyle Richard Condon (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Tungsten Kid is low mileage and looked ahead of his mark when a staying-on fifth from a poor position at Fairyhouse last time, so it’s worth taking the chance that everything will click this time. Ask David is a big danger if in the same form as last time and Mollyella is comfortably the most appealing of the handicap debutants.

4.55 Coral Download The App I.N.H. Flat 2m110y

Timeform Top Rated
104 3. NO GREY AREA’S Martin Hassett Mr P. W. Mullins
91 6. THOUSAND TEARS John Michael Burke Mr J. M. Burke (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Scalor represents a yard that boasts a solid record in these events and, while No Grey Area’s ran a big race on debut, he doesn’t set the bar all that high, so the first-named gets the nod with fellow newcomer Sellarbridge also one to consider.
