Wednesday – 5th December 2018
We managed a place yesterday with the Emma Lavelle trained Balibour with our other runner going withdrawn. From the intro notes there was another lumping winner as Crosspark was produced late by Harry Skelton to win cosily at the line at 6/4.
Back to today we have Haydock and Ludlow with Timeform for the former. Our early week tracker non-runner Tresnish pops up in the 13.20 – it looks a big ask in a 4 runner looking at the two market leaders and we’ll watch how he fairs in this C2.
We’ve two at a reasonable price today from Haydock for members in the section below.
For those on the new £1k to £10k, current stakes are now £11.25 EW and the bank stands at £900.30

12.20 Watch Racing UK In HD Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle (4) 2¾m177y
Timeform Top Rated:
119 4. JUST BOBBY Micky Hammond Billy Garritty (10)
118p 1. QURI Tom Lacey Stan Sheppard (3)
117 6. SOLWAY LARK Lisa Harrison Ross Chapman
Analyst’s Verdict:
Quri could hardly have been more impressive when making a winning handicap debut at Uttoxeter last month, scoring with any amount in hand. She should prove hard to beat under a penalty. Just Bobby and Ballymagroarty Boy can do battle for minor honours.
12.50 Watch Racing UK Anywhere Maiden Hurdle (4) 2¾m177y
Timeform Top Rated:
123p 7. NEWTIDE Kim Bailey Jonathan Burke
120p 6. MODERN WARFAIR Tim Vaughan Alan Johns
101 5. LEOPARD Joanne Foster Danny Cook
Analyst’s Verdict:
Newtide took a while to get to the track following his six-figure purchase after a runner-up effort between the flags, but he shaped with plenty of promise in a good-looking maiden at Chepstow and is expected to take a jump forward. Halloween Harry won his point and has joined a top yard, while Kootenay River is surely capable of better.
1.20 Liverpool University Thoroughbred Horseracing Industries MBA Novices’ Chase (2) 2½m135y
Timeform Top Rated:
159p 3. MR WHIPPED Nicky Henderson Nico de Boinville
156p 1. SPRINGTOWN LAKE Philip Hobbs Richard Johnson
147p 2. KNOCKROBIN Donald McCain Brian Hughes
Analyst’s Verdict:
Mr Whipped shaped with plenty of promise when third on chase debut at Cheltenham recently, seemingly done for speed at a crucial stage but noted keeping on well up the straight. He looks sure to improve and can get off the mark. Springtown Lake is a most likeable sort though, and shouldn’t be dismissed lightly with the prospect of more to come in this sphere.
1.55 Watch Racing UK In Stunning HD “Introductory” Hurdle (2) 1m7f144y
Timeform Top Rated:
144p 3. THE BIG BITE Tom George Noel Fehily
142p 1. DEMOPOLIS Philip Hobbs Richard Johnson
122 2. NOBLE WARRIOR James Moffatt Henry Brooke
Analyst’s Verdict:
The Big Bite looked a useful prospect when a ready winner of a big-field maiden hurdle at Chepstow last month and is expected to remain unbeaten, though the presence of Demopolis back from a lengthy absence does make things interesting (the market will probably tell a story).
2.25 Watch Racing UK On BT TV Handicap Hurdle (3) 2¼m191y
Timeform Top Rated:
143 10. IDILICO Ian Williams Tom O’Brien
142 1. CHAMPAGNE CITY Tom George Noel Fehily
140p 8. BILLINGSLEY Alastair Ralph Richard Johnson
Analyst’s Verdict:
Idilico looks very interesting making an early switch to handicaps with a big weight allowance and is preferred to Billingsley and Becky The Thatcher.
3.00 Bet At racinguk.com Handicap Chase (4) 2¾m204y
Timeform Top Rated:
132p 7. ABSOLUTELY DYLAN Sue Smith Danny Cook
130 1. BIGIRONONHISHIP Rose Dobbin Craig Nichol
130§ 4. STRONGLY SUGGESTED Jonjo O’Neill Richie McLernon
Analyst’s Verdict:
Absolutely Dylan looks set to make up into another useful staying chaser for these connections if his quirks can be kept in check and he gets the vote stepped up in trip after a good run at Wetherby. Voie Dans Voie and Steps And Stairs are feared most.
3.30 Bryn ‘Newcomers’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat (4) 1m7f144y
Timeform Top Rated:
No ratings for this race
Analyst’s Verdict:
No form to go on and the betting may be informative. As things stand a chance is taken on Amorlette, the only filly in the field but who makes stacks of appeal on paper. Her classy dam was a bumper winner and also took the Rossington Main over hurdles here, while she’s already produced a winning bumper performer. Chuffy Chuffnell and Mr Grey Sky are a couple of the other likely types.
