Wenger ready for title tilt

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits his side face a key group of fixtures over the coming weeks but remains in optimistic mood.
The Gunners travel to Liverpool on Saturday and face the Anfield outfit again the following weekend in the fifth round of the FA Cup, with a Premier League showdown against Manchester United sandwiched between their two meetings with the Merseysiders.
Arsenal also host Bayern Munich in the Champions League later in the month, and Wenger is well aware that results over the next few weeks will have a huge bearing on whether or not they manage to pick up any silverware this season.
“This is the period – January, February, March – where every game is a battle for everybody because everybody fights for something,” he told the club’s official website.
“We have to look at it as a challenge and play with the serene attitude we have shown and the intelligence as well. You have to look at this period as one game at a time and do not consider too far ahead.”
Arsenal are top of the Premier League table as they lead both Manchester City and Chelsea by two points.
Chelsea secured a 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night and Wenger feels there will be many twists and turns in the title battle over the course of the remainder of the campaign, while revealing he felt City appeared “jaded” in the top of the table clash.
“[The title race] is never as simple as everyone predicts it,” he said. “I said a long time ago that nobody will be absolutely above [the others]. It will be down to consistency.
“Chelsea always looked dangerous and City looked for me a bit jaded. They were not as fluent or as strong physically as they were at Tottenham, but it could have gone to 1-1, or it could have gone 2-0 for Chelsea.”
Arsenal are 4/1 to win the Premier League and 28/1 to secure Champions League glory.
Chelsea can be backed at 2/1 to win the Premier League, with City available at 1/1.
