World Golf Championship:HSBC Championship Shanghai.
Thursday sees the start of the final World Golf Championship Event the HSBC Championship from Shanghai.
A stella field has gathered in the Far East although of course most of the Worlds stars were already there as both Tours were playing there last week.
Reigning Champion is the man in tartan himself Ian Poulter who played like a man who had just had a long break last week mixing brilliant golf with some horrific stuff.
Expect Poults to be much sharper this week after last weeks good showing in the BMW Masters.
Lee Westwood was another English star who looked seriously rusty last week and should play significantly better in Shanghai.
Phil Mickelson is back but struggled last week with his driving and needs to iron that out or it will be another also ran finish for ”Old lefty’.
It’s a long course with large undulating greens meaning everyone has long putts over the four days and Poulter is a master of this type of course because of his confidence with the putter.
The other main factor is water and lots of it, many holes run alongside one lake which is interconnected very cleverly meaning if your not driving you’re in for a swim.
Opposite side of the fairway to the drink is the rough….if you’re not straight, you’re in trouble either way!!!
