Another placed effort with Enigmatic at Yarmouth left it a near wipes yer face day though our other selection Fumbo Jumbo hit traffic 2f out and was eased soon after, we’ll keep a look out for where that goes next………….Thursday sees the start of the Ayr Gold Cup Festival and there’s Timeform below.

There’s nothing of note at Yarmouth so we will look at a couple at Ayr and Ponty for members selections.

At Ponty, our local handler Eric Alston takes Maid In India over for the C2 6f sprint (15.45) – we’ve tried to steer clear of C2 but this one does have appeal after a return to form LTO when 2nd behind Nuns Walk – 10’s looks a fair price for those looking at a small EW interest outside of members selections?

Last week’s selection PEARL ACCLAIM was a decent 2nd for us at a price last week – goes in the Ayr 16.45  but despite looking well has done all his winning on better surfaces than this, excepting an odd place in C4 – he looks likely place material though not the winner?

Please checkout the new content……we’ve now added a ‘TRACKERS’ and ‘REVIEWS’ sections to the site home page…..the trackers will try and give some insights into the past weeks racing and horses that we have noted. 1.30 EBF Novice Stakes (4) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
107p 1. DARK JEDI Charles Hills Harry Bentley
92p 4. BULLION BOSS Michael Dods Tom Eaves
88p 13. ARCTIC FOX Richard Fahey Tony Hamilton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Dark Jedi landed a decent minor event on Ffos Las debut (runner-up won a Class 2 nursery at Doncaster on Saturday) and subsequently improved when finding just one too good in listed company at Salisbury. On that evidence, he should have little trouble under a penalty back in these calmer waters. Several of his rivals should pick up a race before long, Bullion Boss and Arctic Fox chief among them.

2.00 J.H. Commercials Handicap (4) 7f50y

Timeform Top Rated:
103 11. QUEEN’S SARGENT Kevin Ryan Shane Gray
102 1. TRUTH OR DARE James Bethell Daniel Tudhope
101 2. ROLLER Michael Easterby James Sullivan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Back on a slow surface for the first time since his winning reappearance at Musselburgh, Queen’s Sargent is well worth chancing in what looks a wide-open handicap. He’s also been plying his trade in stronger handicaps than this in the interim, and has slipped to a potentially handy mark. Similar remarks apply to Truth Or Dare, who is feared most. Magic City and Glengarry also enter calculations.

2.30 S T Andrew Plant Hire Handicap (5) (D.I) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
93 1. MUSTAQBAL Michael Dods Callum Rodriguez
92 7. NEWMARKET WARRIOR Iain Jardine Jamie Gormley (3)
91 11. IT’S NEVER ENOUGH James Ewart Jack Garritt

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mustaqbal returned to form when striking back on deep ground at Carlisle last week and, with conditions again in his favour, the 6-y-o is taken to follow up under a penalty. Tagur will be in his element under these conditions, too, and may offer most resistance, albeit Cadeau Magnifique could also be a threat. Conversely, Visitant would prefer faster ground and Newmarket Warrior is 0-25 on turf.

3.05 S T Andrew Plant Hire Handicap (5) (D.II) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
97 1. WELD AL EMARAT Michael Easterby James Sullivan
94 10. CHINESE SPIRIT R. Mike Smith Paddy Mathers
93 5. GLORIOUS POET Daniel Loughnane Franny Norton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Glorious Poet is marginally preferred to Weld Al Emarat, having shaped very well on his second start for this yard at Kempton recently and he’s now 4 lb lower than when a good third at Windsor on his final start of 2017. Weld Al Emarat is lurking on a dangerous mark and should be back in the winner’s circle before long judged on his latest effort at Chepstow. Ventura Secret is best of the rest.

3.35 William Hill Doonside Cup Stakes (Listed) (1) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
125 5. MORANDO Andrew Balding David Probert
123 3. DUBAI HORIZON Saeed bin Suroor Hector Crouch
123 4. GABRIAL Richard Fahey Tony Hamilton

Analyst’s Verdict:
The manner of his victory in a strong Sandown handicap last time suggests that Dubai Horizon may take this step up in class in his stride. Indeed, that was a smart performance and he is taken to complete the hat-trick. Morando sets the standard on form such as his effort in a Sandown Group 3 during the spring and Andrew Balding’s charge is the clear main danger. Gabrial should also be in the mix.

4.10 British Stallion Studs Scottish Premier Series EBF Fillies’ Handicap (4) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
95 7. BOLLIN JOAN Tim Easterby David Allan
94 1. CHE BELLA Keith Dalgleish Connor Beasley
94 5. VERA DRAKE Richard Fahey Tony Hamilton

Analyst’s Verdict:
While Che Bella is no cast iron certainty to reproduce the form of last month’s Thirsk success, she’ll have every chance of adding to her tally if again in the mood. Indeed, a 6 lb rise for that is fair, she’s worth another crack at this trip and a strong pace looks assured with in-form duo Bollin Joan and Double Reflection in opposition. Bollin Joan is a big threat and Vera Drake also has claims.

4.45 Wedding Congratulations To Billy & Margaret Handicap (5) 5f

Timeform Top Rated:
85 6. PEARL ACCLAIM David C. Griffiths Franny Norton
83 1. BROKEN WINGS Keith Dalgleish Connor Beasley
82 12. IMPERIAL LEGEND Alan Brown Tom Eaves

Analyst’s Verdict:
Pearl Acclaim has done all his winning on quicker ground, but he appears to be effective with give underfoot and gets the nod here off a mark 1 lb lower than that off which he was runner-up at Catterick last week. Danehill Desert and Mable Lee both hit the crossbar last time out, too, and are live dangers along with recent Newcastle winner Brendan.

5.20 Ayrshire Cancer Support Handicap (5) 1m5f26y

Timeform Top Rated:
80 15. PALINDROME Marjorie Fife James Sullivan
79 1. BUONARROTI Declan Carroll Ger O’Neill (5)
79 12. NORTHERN SKY A. P. Keatley Stevie Donohoe

Analyst’s Verdict:
Compensation awaits Palindrome, who was given too much to do when runner-up at Southwell and this stiffer test could be just what the doctor ordered. With conditions in his favour, Irish raider Northern Sky is expected to pose a big threat, despite arriving here on the back of a couple of tame efforts over hurdles. Bodacious Name is also high on the shortlist and Buonarroti is another to consider.
