Fastar gave us yet another placed effort at Haydock – tbh he looked like he could well have won that with a clear run, ‘Behind, headway when short of room over 1f out, kept on same pace final furlong’ – we’ll take note of his next appearance….and also that little bit of the 10’s place money we managed about him.

Back to Saturday affairs…..on a day of plenty of C1 & C2 at HQ and Haydock the feature handicap is the Cambridgeshire. We have had the odd punt at C2 this season and we’d like to side with one we highlighted right at the start of the season. KYNREN looked to be denied by a poor draw in the season’s opening Spring Mile at Donny and has been largely consistent to a tee since….2nd in the Clipper at York LTO and 3rd prior to that in the John Smith’s over the same track, the 9f may be just what he needs to get John Elliot’s charge and his legion of Bishop Auckland FC followers a rewarding trip to the winners enclosure. David Barron has manged to get the services of William Buick today that looks a big plus and drawn 23 looks to have a big chance. We wouldn’t advise betting the ranch but at least 10’s gives a little bit of value with a monster 35 going to post!

Haydock, Ripon and Chester are our focus for members selections today with Timeform below for the HQ meeting.

1.50 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2) (1) 1m

Timeform Top Rated
121p 1. ARTHUR KITT Tom Dascombe Richard Kingscote
119p 7. KUWAIT CURRENCY Richard Hannon Non Runner
117p 3. CAPE OF GOOD HOPE Aidan O’Brien Seamie Heffernan

Analyst’s Verdict:
John Gosden landed this race last year with Roaring Lion and saddles another smart prospect in Beatboxer this time round. He has created a very good impression in winning his 2 starts to date and is expected to take this step up in class in his stride. Arthur Kitt chased home Beatboxer’s stablemate Too Darn Hot last time and may again play second fiddle, while Cape of Good Hope merits respect.

2.25 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1) (1) 6f

Timeform Top Rated
132 7. PRETTY POLLYANNA Michael Bell Silvestre De Sousa
129 9. SIGNORA CABELLO John Quinn Frankie Dettori
120p 5. LADY KAYA Ms Sheila Lavery Robert Colgan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Pretty Pollyanna displayed a willing attitude when getting the better of Signora Cabello in the Prix Morny and while the latter should again offer stern resistance, there’s no real reason to believe that the outcome will be any different here. Indeed, Michael Bell’s filly is a worthy favourite and will prove hard to beat. Irish-raiders Lady Kaya and So Perfect are live each-way contenders.

3.00 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes (Group 1) (1) 6f

Timeform Top Rated
128P 8. TEN SOVEREIGNS Aidan O’Brien Donnacha O’Brien
124p 1. EMARAATY ANA Kevin Ryan Andrea Atzeni
124 5. RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE Richard Spencer James Doyle

Analyst’s Verdict:
The sky is the limit for Ten Sovereigns, who looked a colt right out of the top drawer when coasting home in a Group 3 at the Curragh. He possesses plenty of scope for improvement and can provide Aidan O’Brien with a sixth winner in this contest. Stablemate Sergei Prokofiev should make his presence felt, but the hugely promising Jash and Gimcrack winner Emaraaty Ana may emerge as the main dangers.

3.40 Bet365 Cambridgeshire Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (2) 1m1f

Timeform Top Rated
127 33. MORDIN Simon Crisford Pat Cosgrave
125 3. SHARJA BRIDGE Roger Varian Silvestre De Sousa
123 10. TRICORN John Gosden James Doyle

Analyst’s Verdict:
Arguably unlucky not to score back from a 2-month break at York, Sharja Bridge makes plenty of appeal off the same mark. He represents a yard in terrific form and the suspicion remains that this unexposed 4-y-o is pattern-class performer masquerading as a handicapper. The progressive Danceteria is feared most ahead of Stylehunter, who could be the pick of John Gosden’s trio.

4.15 Blandford Bloodstock Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (4) (D.I) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
98p 10. SUNDAY STAR Ed Walker Gerald Mosse
97p 4. IMPERIAL CHARM Simon Crisford Andrea Atzeni
86p 5. LYZBETH Martyn Meade Jason Watson (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Sunday Star and Imperial Charm have both run to a fairly useful level, with the promise of better to come, and are likely to be winning races sooner rather than later. Sunday Star was much improved at Goodwood last time, and gets a tentative nod. This is a deep maiden however, with newcomers Maqsad, Nearooz, Red Romance and Truly Adored all making plenty of appeal on paper.

4.50 Blandford Bloodstock Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (4) (D.II) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
92p 2. DESIROUS Ralph Beckett Richard Kingscote
86p 5. INCLYNE Andrew Balding Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict:
A number of well-bred individuals, and the market should provide further clues, though Moneta ticks plenty of boxes on debut for an in-form stable and gets the nod as things stand. Qabala is an expensive daughter of Scat Daddy and needs considering also, while Desirous is the pick of those with previous experience.

5.25 British Stallion Studs EBF ‘Jersey Lily’ Fillies’ Nursery Handicap (2) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
104 10. SEDUCTIVE William Haggas Gabriele Malune (5)
103 7. STAY CLASSY Richard Spencer Martin Dwyer
102p 5. WINTER LIGHT Richard Hughes Shane Kelly

Analyst’s Verdict:
Winter Light put in good late work when third to Stay Classy over 6.5f at Doncaster, shaping as though this stiffer test would be right up her street. She enjoys a 4 lb pull at the weights with that rival, too, and is taken to emerge on top this time. Like the selection, Chaleur remains with potential and she is next on the list ahead of the William Haggas-trained duo, Seductive and Wingreen.

5.55 Newmarket Journal Handicap (2) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
116 7. SPANISH CITY Roger Varian Andrea Atzeni
115 4. RIPP ORF David Elsworth Jason Watson (3)
114 10. SQUATS William Haggas Georgia Cox (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
The vote goes to Danielsflyer, who was hampered at a crucial stage when fourth in a valuable handicap in Ireland recently. His turn is near and judged on that display and he remains on a workable mark (1 lb lower than when winning here last season). Spanish City and Warsaw Road were both behind Ripp Orf at Ascot last time, but they can reverse the placings and emerge as the main dangers.
