Catterick, Newbury, Nottingham and Ayr to consider today…..previous selection Christmas Night has been knocking on the door in most of his races and goes in the (17.15) at Catterick. This represents a slight drop in class, though the wide draw leaves him a bit to do round the sharp bend and the best wipes yer face 9/2 is hardly value in a 13 runner. He will have to travel all the way around the pack to do his normal front running and something like Twylight from Tim Easterby’s stable could pick him off at the finish?

From yesterday’s intro notes, John Quinn’s Shaheen had a slight drift at Windsor last night and we’ll have to consider that as one we missed with Jason Hart booting him home at 5/1 in the (17.30)

Magnetic Charm is bred to be useful, and given her debut third over C&D was full of promise, a leap forward in form terms is very much on the cards. 6f is probably Miss Serenity’s trip, at least in the short term, and she is a big threat, with Dinas Powys perhaps the pick of the Hannon newcomers.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Marshal Dan is a genuine sort and upped his game when scoring over C&D last month. He makes most appeal in a tricky-looking contest. Good Effort and Los Camachos are next best.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Hot Team pulled clear of the rest when making a useful colt dig deep at York and a reproduction of that would make him hard to beat. The ground was soft that day but he handled faster going with aplomb when third on debut, so conditions won’t be a problem. Al Wafi shaped fairly well at Lingfield and will be sharper now but stablemate Aspire Tower is a likely type and may emerge as the main danger.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Rebel Assault ran a cracker in a big field at Goodwood last week and a repeat of that form could be good enough in these calmer waters. This looks a little easier than the races Almoreb has tackled on his last 2 starts and he could provide the main threat.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Even Keel wasn’t seen to best effect on his nursery debut at Newmarket and is worth another chance to show he’s on a fair mark. The progressive Stay Classy is an obvious danger, while Hard Taskmaster also looks capable of better.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Saeed Bin Suroor has his team in flying form and Returning Glory looks to stand a good chance of providing him with another winner on the back of a good second at Windsor last month. Glorious Army is another who arrives after a runner-up finish at Windsor, while Antiguan Rock appeals as the sort to go on to better things now handicapping over a longer trip.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Trevena put in good late work when narrowly prevailing on her handicap debut at Yarmouth, having hit a flat-spot around a furlong out. On that evidence, this stiffer test will be very much in her favour and she is taken to follow up. Alexanderthegreat did well to score at Lingfield recently and may do better still back on a more galloping track but handicap-debutante Konigin is feared most.
