Kempton Racecourse

Kempton Racecourse is a dual purpose venue though in terms of the All-Weather, the surface is Polytrack.

However, it is felt to be deeper and therefore not as fast as both Lingfield and Wolverhampton and is the only right-handed all-weather course in the UK

The course is a flat, oval-shaped course with two loops and considered a fair track with a cutaway in the straight ensuring that there are few ‘unlucky in running’ moments.

The inner circuit, used for races over five, nine and ten furlongs is sharp and has a finishing straight of just under two furlongs, favouring those who race prominently over the minimum trip. In terms of draw, the inside seems to be the place to be on the round course, as you don’t want to be running wide.

Generally, the going on AW tracks is officially rated ‘standard’ but can be dependent on weather conditions so worth checking the going stick?

As we can see, on the whole front running sorts fair best, however, Newcastle does favour the hold up’s as much as those who like to race prominently (‘a‘ very nearly equals ‘b‘) and what we will consider when analysing each course……..
