With no selections yesteday, it’s straight into the 2nd day of Chester – anyone missing yesterday’s newsletter, the speedmeisters have produced a Full Chester Preview that can be downloaded at that highlighted link.

The opener 13.50 is a C2 for 4yo+ over 5f – The Gateley PLC Handicap and surprise surprise, looking at the 10 year draw stats the previous winners had all come from under stall 7 with 8 winners coming from 5 or lower. Analysing a little more shows only 1 winner had come from the very inside stall 1. Whether there’s anything to be considered that a fast breaking 2, 3 or 4 horse is better positioned to get up the rail than the trap 1 horse is open to conjecture.

We have one of our winners from last year out in this – Mayleaf Shine who gave us a nice 7/1 win at Haydock last September – out of Mayson suggests as when we backed her, then that more cut is required for this one and we’ll take note and keep tabs when the going goes softer than soft! – our selection is in the members area below

As ever, please drop us a line at feedback@always-back-winners.com with any questions….. and any FREE SERVICE MEMBERS looking to receive today’s selection……just follow the UPGRADE link

Timeform for the meet is below as are members notes – we’ll be back before 8.00am in the morning with the last day of Chester.

1.50 Gateley PLC Handicap (2) 5f15y

Timeform Top Rated:
121 8. MAYLEAF SHINE Iain Jardine James Sullivan
120 3. EL ASTRONAUTE John Quinn Jason Hart
120 5. A MOMENTOFMADNESS Charles Hills William Buick

Analyst’s Verdict:
Fine margins are often key in these races, and A Momentofmadness is a consistent sort who could get a flyer from stall 1. Mayleaf Shine may have more to offer in 2018, while last year’s winner El Astronaute also has to be considered following an encouraging reappearance.

2.25 Homeserve Dee Stakes (Listed) (1) 1¼m70y

Timeform Top Rated:
124 3. FORTUNE’S PEARL Andrew Balding Non Runner
121 6. RASTRELLI Charlie Appleby William Buick
117p 5. MY LORD AND MASTER William Haggas Daniel Tudhope

Analyst’s Verdict:
Kenya managed to land a Group 3 over 7f as a 2-y-o despite being bred to need this sort of trip, so there’s good reason to think he can make a marked step forward from his low-key reappearance and get back to winning ways despite shouldering a penalty in this company. Rastrelli, My Lord And Master, Finniston Farm and Fortune’s Pearl are all firmly on the up, too, so it looks a strong renewal.

3.00 Abbey Logistics Handicap (2) 7f127y

Timeform Top Rated:
113p 6. VALE OF KENT Mark Johnston Joe Fanning
112 5. SIMPSON Ed Walker Pat Cosgrave
111 3. NOBLEMAN’S NEST Simon Crisford Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Vale of Kent has done well on the AW this year and shapes as though he still has more to offer, so another bold bid is likely from his good draw. Being There looked a useful prospect last summer and needs keeping an eye on, while Another Batt should be hard to keep out of the frame.

3.35 Boodles Diamond Ormonde Stakes (Group 3) (1) 1m5f84y

Timeform Top Rated:
140 5. IDAHO Aidan O’Brien Ryan Moore
132 6. MUNTAHAA John Gosden Jim Crowley
129 3. DYLAN MOUTH Marco Botti Andrea Atzeni

Analyst’s Verdict:
Idaho is used to keeping much better company than this and will prove difficult to beat if anywhere near his best. Elidor goes well fresh and may be the one for the forecast with his yard bang in-form.

4.05 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes (2) 5f15y

Timeform Top Rated:
94 6. YNYS MON Charles Hills William Buick
90p 9. WEDDING DATE Richard Hannon Silvestre De Sousa
81p 3. AWAKE IN ASIA David Evans John Egan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Arcadian Rocks represents a stable that has dominated the juvenile division and he shaped like he could have made a winning start at Salisbury had conditions not been so testing, so he looks to boast excellent claims from an ideal draw. Ynys Mon, the most experienced in the field, is an obvious danger and Swift Justice makes most appeal of the newcomers.

4.35 English Fine Cottons Handicap (3) 1½m63y

Timeform Top Rated:
101p 1. AUSTRIAN SCHOOL Mark Johnston P. J. McDonald
98p 2. VOLEVO LUI Marco Botti Marc Monaghan (3)
98p 8. ARTHENIA Charles Hills John Egan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Plenty arrive with claims, chief amongst them Austrian School who continued his theme of race-by-race progress when scoring readily over 1¾m at Chelmsford last week. The drop in trip will hold no fears and he can do better again. Irish-raider Christopher Robin is a most interesting runner for Aidan O’Brien and feared, along with Knightly Spirit and Ghostwatch.

5.05 Partner Tech Handicap (3) 1¼m70y

Timeform Top Rated:
106 3. INDIAN CHIEF Rebecca Bastiman Daniel Tudhope
105 10. BERRAHRI John Best Silvestre De Sousa
105 5. MULLIGATAWNY Roger Fell Tony Hamilton

Analyst’s Verdict:
A winner on this card 12 months ago, Never Surrender didn’t shape too badly in fourth on his return at Newbury recently, his strength at the finish the most taking aspect of his performance. There appears no reason why he won’t go well again and he earns the vote. Indian Chief, who shaped well at Ripon, and Windsor-scorer Bakht A Rawan are next best.

Today’s Bets……..

Good luck if you’re going with your each-way selection today….
