A quiet week so far changes with the first day of the Aintree meeting – perhaps not the best day to get heavily involved and we’re just going for one we backed LTO to make his presence felt in the 16.40 at decent double-digit odds.

Following the sad events of a couple of weeks back, it’s funeral day today so we’re going to give Jack a good send off this afternoon and hopefully tip up a winner.

Our members selection’s are below and as ever, please drop us a line at feedback@always-back-winners.com with any questions.

1.45 Big Buck’s Celebration Manifesto Novices’ Chase (Grade 1) (1) 2m3f200y

Timeform Top Rated:
175p 3. CYRNAME Paul Nicholls Sean Bowen
174 1. BRAIN POWER Nicky Henderson Nico de Boinville
169 6. RENE’S GIRL Dan Skelton Harry Skelton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Cyrname has quickly developed into a very smart chaser, and with lots to like about him, not least his exuberance for the job, it’s easy to envisage him rating higher still next season. Brain Power rather picked up the pieces in the Arkle, but it was good to see him get round after 2 previous non-completions, while Rene’s Girl shouldn’t be overlooked.

2.20 Doom Bar Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1) (1) 2m209y

Timeform Top Rated:
168 8. APPLE’S SHAKIRA Nicky Henderson Barry Geraghty
166p 7. WE HAVE A DREAM Nicky Henderson Daryl Jacob
161 10. MALAYA Paul Nicholls Sam Twiston-Davies

Analyst’s Verdict:
We Have A Dream missed Cheltenham with a minor setback, but as a result he comes into this race fresh so is taken to maintain his unbeaten record on these shores. His stablemate Apple’s Shakira is likely to pose the biggest threat sporting a first-time hood, with the consistent Malaya another to consider.

2.50 Betway Bowl Chase (Grade 1) (1) 3m210y

Timeform Top Rated:
185 5. MIGHT BITE Nicky Henderson Nico de Boinville
180 3. DEFINITLY RED Brian Ellison Danny Cook
180x 1. BRISTOL DE MAI Nigel Twiston-Davies Daryl Jacob

Analyst’s Verdict:
Might Bite is the clear pick on form and is hard to oppose. Nicky Henderson’s charge might have had a hard race when runner-up in the Gold Cup 4 weeks ago, but the vibes have been positive since, and he overcame a quick turnaround to follow up his RSA win at this meeting last season. Double Shuffle looks the each-way play after his excellent second behind the selection in the King George.

3.25 Betway Aintree Hurdle (Grade 1) (1) 2½m

Timeform Top Rated:
177 8. SUPASUNDAE Mrs J. Harrington Robbie Power
176 7. MY TENT OR YOURS Nicky Henderson Barry Geraghty
175 6. L’AMI SERGE Nicky Henderson Daryl Jacob

Analyst’s Verdict:
Supasundae has cranked it up another notch this season, losing very little in defeat in the Stayers’ Hurdle last month, and with this drop in trip no inconvenience whatsoever, he is the one to beat. Old rivals The New One and My Tent Or Yours have plenty of previous, including in this race, and are expected to fight it out for minor honours.

4.05 Randox Health Foxhunters’ Open Hunters’ Chase (2) 2m5f19y

Timeform Top Rated:
140 9. GRAND VISION Colin Tizzard Mr J. J. Codd
139 1. BALNASLOW Graham McKeever Mr Derek O’Connor
138+ 22. WONDERFUL CHARM Paul Nicholls Mr Sam Waley-Cohen

Analyst’s Verdict:
Grand Vision is yet to tackle the Grand National fences, but his bold-jumping, front-running style should be ideal for this track, so he’s expected to produce a big effort under one of the most astute amateur riders. Balnaslow would be a big threat with a repeat of last year’s performance and the relatively unexposed Barrakilla is another who should be suited by this sort of test.

4.40 Zut Media Red Rum Handicap Chase (Grade 3) (1) 1m7f176y

Timeform Top Rated:
167 6. THEINVAL Nicky Henderson Jeremiah McGrath
166 8. KING’S SOCKS David Pipe Tom Scudamore
165 4. SIZING PLATINUM Colin Tizzard Robbie Power

Analyst’s Verdict:
King’s Socks travelled powerfully for a long way when fifth in a Grade 3 handicap on his second start for this yard at the Cheltenham Festival last month and the drop back in trip looks an interesting move. Theinval has an excellent record at the big festivals and should make a bold bid to better last year’s second off a 3 lb lower mark, with the thriving Gino Trail another to consider.

5.15 Goffs Nickel Coin Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat (Grade 2) (1) 2m209y

Timeform Top Rated:
129 5. GETAWAY KATIE MAI John Queally Mr J. J. Codd
128 10. POSH TRISH Paul Nicholls Sam Twiston-Davies
126 3. DISSAVRIL Emma Lavelle Gavin Sheehan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Getaway Katie Mai chased home subsequent Champion Bumper heroine Relegate in a Leopardstown Grade 2 in February and that form sets the standard here. Dissavril, Duhallow Gesture and Posh Trish have all tasted listed success this winter and look sure to make their presence felt, while Cedar Valley looked a nice prospect when making a winning start at Taunton last month.
