Monday – 14th May 2018

We took on Eric Alston’s Maid In India on Saturday evening and she beat our selection Melonade home who finished another 4th at 10’s in what was our sole bet on Saturday.

The start of a new week kicks off with action at Catterick and an evening meet at Windsor with Timeform below for the latter. Despite liking a gamble at Catterick, there’s only really a veteran’s handicap (16.40) and the (17.10) something we’d ordinarily look at. The second of those features Bosham who is a well drawn fast starting front runner who looks well placed to make all as the current 3/1 favourite – just too short for us.

We’re off to Windsor for our sole bet of the day……as ever, please drop us a line at feedback@always-back-winners.com with any questions….. and any FREE SERVICE MEMBERS looking to receive today’s selections or Catterick on Monday……..just follow the UPGRADE link

5.20 Jigsaw Supporting Mental Health Foundation Handicap (5) 1m3f99y

Timeform Top Rated:
88? 3. LIFEBOAT Charles Hills Callum Shepherd
84 6. EL BORRACHO Simon Dow Oisin Murphy
80 2. MANOR PARK Alan King Martin Harley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Wild West Hero‘s profile is similar to that of Rye House, who landed this handicap for the same connections in 2012, and it will look significant if there’s confidence behind this colt in the betting now that he’s upped in trip and pitched into a handicap off a lowly opening mark. El Borracho shaped pretty well on return at Kempton and rates the main danger ahead of Manor Park.

5.50 Skybet, Britain’s Most Popular Online Bookmaker Novice Stakes (3) 5f21y

Timeform Top Rated:
98p 2. JAMES WATT Michael Bell Hayley Turner
85p 3. ADAM TILER Robert Cowell Gerald Mosse
84p 1. BIG BOOTS Mick Channon Charles Bishop

Analyst’s Verdict:
The form of James Watt‘s debut win was boosted by the runner-up scoring at Chester last week and he’s likely to take a bit of stopping. Fellow debut scorer Big Boots could be the one to follow him home. It also wouldn’t be any surprise if the Hannon newcomer Dancing Speed was capable of getting involved.

6.20 Sky Bet Extra Place Races Handicap (Qualifier) (3) 6f12y

Timeform Top Rated:
100 1. SILENT ECHO Peter Hedger Tom Marquand
99 6. LITTLE PALAVER Clive Cox Adam Kirby
98+ 3. UDONTDODOU Richard Guest Connor Beasley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Silent Echo produced a career-best when chasing home a potentially smart colt at Ascot on Friday and, if able to perform to a similar level turned out again quickly here, he could take some stopping off the same mark. Having gone close off a 14 lb higher AW mark last time, Udontdodou is accorded the utmost respect back on turf, while Open Wide and Little Palaver are others with claims.

6.50 Weatherbys Racing Bank Supporting Mental Health Foundation Stakes (Royal Windsor) (Listed) (1) 1m31y

Timeform Top Rated:
127 5. OH THIS IS US Richard Hannon Tom Marquand
126 6. SOVEREIGN DEBT Ruth Carr James Sullivan
123+ 3. AROD David Simcock Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Oh This Is Us escapes a penalty for his listed success last spring and can continue the excellent run of the Richard Hannon yard. Sovereign Debt should be all the sharper for his recent reappearance at Sandown and could provide the main threat ahead of Arod, who showed he still retains plenty of his ability on his AW return.

7.20 Racing Post Supporting Mental Health Foundation Novice Median Auction Stakes (5) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
79p 4. DESERT PATH Amanda Perrett Pat Dobbs
70p 8. NAUTICAL MILE Simon Crisford Jack Mitchell
67 1. RAGTAG RASCAL Jimmy Frost Sebastian Woods (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
The votes goes to Desert Path, who shaped well in a couple of runs at Kempton last term and appeals as the type do better as a 3-y-o. Le Maharajah’s finishing position on C&D debut only tells half the story and he is feared most with improvement very much on the cards. Nautical Mile and Doctor Jazz are other likely improvers, while White Turf could be the pick of the newcomers.

7.50 K&L Gates Supporting Mental Health Foundation Handicap (4) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
100 6. CAYUGA Brett Johnson Rossa Ryan (5)
96 8. CAMAKASI Ali Stronge Tom Marquand
95 11. ESSENAITCH David Evans John Egan

Analyst’s Verdict:
While his overall strike rate isn’t especially compelling, Camakasi did well to finish as close as he did at Kempton last time and the 7-y-o could be the answer providing there’s a strong pace to aim at. Cayuga has been in fine form on the AW since returning to action in January and he has to be feared, while Dream Machine was consistent last year and also merits respect.

8.20 At The Races Supporting Mental Health Foundation Handicap (5) 1m31y

Timeform Top Rated:
85 3. NEW ORLEANS Hugo Palmer Josephine Gordon
84 14. HOLLYWOOD DREAM Neil Mulholland Luke Morris
84 2. STARBOY George Scott Fran Berry

Analyst’s Verdict:
A wide-open finale. Richard Fahey’s Swiss Belle could build on her recent handicap debut fourth and gets a tentative vote. New Orleans and Trogon are others with claims on form, while market support for any of the handicap newcomers would also bring them into the reckoning.

Today’s Bets……..

Good luck if you’re going with our each-way selection today….
