Sunday – 15th April 2018

A really disappointing end to the to the NH matching a previous losing run of 8 that we incurred in November – overall we took the £1k bank to north of £1700…..not quite the Yukon Gold rush 🙂 …but in the BLACK to ensure we have our normal float for the tilt at the flat.

Looking back….could we have done anything better?……obviously we can leave that for you to come back to us…..there were plenty of ‘crossbars hit’ and ‘posts clipped as we say with very close placed efforts that would have propelled us further north.

Looking ahead…..

The flat is obviously in its infancy and already there have been plenty of meets gone to the weather already that have negated getting a few in the ‘tracker bank’…..we added a few for the Donny Lincoln Meeting, if anyone missed that you can click on that highlighted link to check out our thoughts.

Redcar has already gone tomorrow so the feature of this week will be Newmarket’s Craven Meeting – it may be a tad quiet on the selections front for the next couple of weeks so bear with us on that….like we always say, it’s a marathon and not a sprint and looking back last term, we went through a spell of around 15 places/2 winners from 22 bets at the start of May (more bloody crossbars!) and it was not until after Royal Ascot that we really flew.

We will continue the regular format – we will send out a notification email of some sort each day….even if it just to let you know there is just the speed ratings with no selections that day. Either way, you can always check the ‘BLOG’ tab on the website that is updated around 8.00am daily on a weekday and 10.00am on the weekend!

Over the next couple of weeks, if there is an occasional NH bet to be had we may put that up until we roll-out the flat in entirety from May.

2.00 Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden 1m100y

Timeform Top Rated:
97p 1. ESCAPABILITY Mrs J. Harrington C. O’Donoghue
83 5. WAY BACK HOME Padraig Roche Declan McDonogh
73 6. LOUDEST WHISPER P. J. Prendergast R. P. Whelan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Escapability was clear of the rest with a couple of promising sorts at Naas last time and, provided that effort hasn’t taken too much out of him, he should have little trouble getting off the mark here with the benefit of experience over Intense Expression and Seekamist, who both hail from powerful stables.

2.30 Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Noblesse Stakes (Listed) 1½m

Timeform Top Rated:
126 4. CLEAR SKIES Aidan O’Brien Donnacha O’Brien
120p 2. BLOOMFIELD W. McCreery William James Lee
119 1. GLAMOROUS APPROACH J. S. Bolger K. J. Manning

Analyst’s Verdict:
Bloomfield progressed quickly in 3 runs last summer and looks a smart filly in the making. Clear Skies failed to fire in the Winter Derby at Lingfield but is an obvious player if bouncing back from that.

3.05 Handicap 1m100y

Timeform Top Rated:
84 1. SHIFTED STRATEGY J. A. Stack M. P. O’Connor (10)
81+ 4. SWING TILL DAWN J. S. Bolger K. J. Manning
77+ 5. PLAYA BLANCA John Patrick Murtagh N. G. McCullagh

Analyst’s Verdict:
Swing Till Dawn‘s second to Berkeley Square last year is quite a strong piece of form and, given her connections, there’s an excellent chance she’ll prove a much better 3-y-o, so a mark of 66 looks leniently as she embarks on handicaps with a satisfactory reappearance under her belt. Faughill and Rock On Seamie also leave the impression they’ll do better now handicapping.

3.35 Follow Us On Facebook Handicap 1m100y

Timeform Top Rated:
114 5. ADMODUM J. S. Bolger K. J. Manning
113 4. AUSSIE VALENTINE Adrian McGuinness Shane Foley
112 1. SALTONSTALL M. Halford C. P. Hoban

Analyst’s Verdict:
Saltonstall shaped as if ahead of his mark when second in a big field at Naas on belated comeback 3 weeks and looks a big player if this doesn’t come too soon. Allegio won well here last time and is next best.

4.10 Blackwater Maiden 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
107p 3. GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI Aidan O’Brien Seamie Heffernan
81 4. CHILTON FOLIAT W. McCreery William James Lee

Analyst’s Verdict:
Giuseppe Garibaldi left his debut well behind when second in a Group 3 at Leopardstown in October and sets a very high standard back in a maiden. Arthurian Fame can follow him home.

4.45 Buy Online At Apprentice Handicap 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
83 12. SONG OF THE SKY Joseph Patrick O’Brien S. M. Crosse (7)
82 1. STORM RANGER Patrick J. Flynn D. P. Linehan
82 13. GLIB SPEECH Rodger Sweeney Gearoid Patrick Brouder (4)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Song of The Sky caught the eye on return/debut for this yard at Dundalk and could be worth chancing. Happy Company and Our Anniversary are others to consider.

5.15 Cork Racecourse On Twitter Handicap 7f

Timeform Top Rated:
80 1. ADMIRALITY John Patrick Murtagh D. P. Linehan (5)
79+ 2. AN SAIGHDIUR A. Slattery A. J. Slattery (7)
79 12. AUNTY AUDREY Patrick J. Flynn L. F. Roche

Analyst’s Verdict:
The veteran An Saighdiur has a fitness edge on plenty of these and could easily bounce back to form with blinkers refitted, so he’s taken to capitalise on a reduced mark and get the better of the improving Admiralty, with Cracking Name another one to consider.
