Another crossbar bounced on and done by the bottom weight who brought questionable form into the race and did us up like a kipper after the last…..still a modicum of profit from the EW 8’s and we’ll move on to today  🙁

A repeat card from Cheptow today with Timeform below and a meet at Ludlow to consider.

Only really the 17.15 at Ludlow and the 14.20 /16.00 at Chepstow offering fields of a size to have a look at. In the opener at Chepstow we are drawn to one just outside the handicap though the claimers allowance brings him in….Kayf Tiger maybe better watched but certainly interesting coming out quickly on the back of a decent run and Matt Sheppard has an excellent strike rate at the track.

We’re just opting for on late on at Ludlow today and notes are below.

We have also been asked if we are kicking our flat season off this weekend with the big off at Donny?

We will certainly look at introducing the occasional bet before we switch over after the GN meet – Saturday’s Lincoln is always a decent pointer to some future runs and we have our eyes on BALLARD DOWN who gave us a great 16/1 win at Newmarket last July and hasn’t been out since. It will be interesting to see what sort of draw he gets when announced?

More about that later …….

2.20 National Federation of Roofing Contractors Handicap Hurdle (5) 2m11y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Under The Woods has shown clear signs of ability in each of his qualifying runs, and appeals as the sort to take off now switching to handicaps. Mr Lando is feared most under a penalty ahead of Blue April.

Timeform Top Rated:
111p 3. UNDER THE WOODS Evan Williams Conor Ring (3)
109 7. FLIGHT TO NOWHERE Richard Price Liam Heard
105 1. MR LANDO Johnny Farrelly Garry Lavery (7)

2.50 Hyperdesmo Classic Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (Qualifier) (4) 2m11y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Kupatana, an expensive recruit from points, confirmed the promise of her Rules/hurdling debut and got off the mark despite doing plenty wrong in the preliminaries at Lingfield earlier this month. The application of a first-time hood may help with her exuberance and she can defy a penalty. Dinos Benefit, on debut for Colin Tizzard, rates the chief threat.

Timeform Top Rated:
127p 1. KUPATANA Nicky Henderson Jeremiah McGrath
122p 3. DINOS BENEFIT Colin Tizzard Harry Cobden
118 7. KESTREL VALLEY Matt Sheppard Stan Sheppard (3)

3.25 ICB Waterproofing Novices’ Hurdle (4) 2m7f131y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Chooseyourweapon surrendered his unbeaten record in Grade 2 company at Warwick in January, but it would come as no surprise were he to successful concede weight all round back at this venue. Kilfilum Cross is open to progress and is the obvious danger.

Timeform Top Rated:
135p 3. KILFILUM CROSS Kim Bailey Dave Crosse
134 1. CHOOSEYOURWEAPON Evan Williams Adam Wedge
131 2. THIS IS IT Nick Mitchell Daryl Jacob

4.00 Recticel Insulation Handicap Chase (4) 2m7f131y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Lac Sacre had a couple of subsequent winners in behind when only just failing at Ffos Las last month and should make another bold bid. Paddy The Oscar and Cailleach Annie head the dangers.

Timeform Top Rated:
127 9. LAC SACRE John Flint Daryl Jacob
125 1. PADDY THE OSCAR Grace Harris Conor Ring (3)
125§ 3. BEARS RAILS Colin Tizzard Harry Cobden

4.35 ECIC Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (4) 2m3f100y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Minellatillmorning has made giant strides forward for the switch to handicaps in recent weeks, supplementing his Taunton success with the minimum of fuss at Fontwell last month. The handicapper has exacted his revenge but he looks sure to make a bold bid to land the hat-trick in any case. Ffos Las-scorer Fly du Charmil rates next best.

Timeform Top Rated:
121p 1. MINELLATILLMORNING Neil Mulholland Tom Scudamore
120 2. FLY DU CHARMIL Warren Greatrex A. P. Heskin
119 3. INIESTA Michael Blake Philip Donovan (7)

5.05 Polyroof Products Open Hunters’ Chase (6) 2m7f131y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Vasco du Mee is fit from the pointing field and can take this race for the second year running under Josephine Banks. Tinkers Hill Tommy should give a good account back from 9 months off, while the unpredictable Al Co could well pop up again.

Timeform Top Rated:
133 3. VASCO DU MEE Martin Weston Miss Josephine Banks (7)
132 9. TINKERS HILL TOMMY Mrs Bridget Lewis Mr James King
131 1. AL CO Mickey Bowen Mr Peter Bryan (7)

5.35 National Federation of Roofing Contractors Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat (5) 2m11y

Analyst’s Verdict:
This will be a test for the newcomers and it’s worth sticking with Shapiro, who has shown fair form in a couple of races under similar conditions and surely has a race like this in her. The market could help sort out the newcomers, with Cavok, Meep Meep and Viva Vittoria all making some appeal on paper.

Timeform Top Rated:
111+ 6. SHAPIRO Anthony Honeyball Aidan Coleman
93 7. LIBERTY BELLA Brian Eckley Trevor Whelan
91 1. BARCALONA Colin Tizzard Harry Cobden
