Pontefract & Windsor today with Timeform for the latter below. Ponty is a track we know well where every inch of the distance needs getting with the stiff uphill finish to the line. Despite that, front runners tend to go well, especially from  inside low draws up to a mile.

We’ve one for members at Ponty below and with and outside of that anyone looking to add to this may want to consider Eric Alston’s Acclaim The Nation who won off one more than this mark early last term.  He’s clearly had his issues with the amount of racing he’s had, but it’s the trainers sole entry of the day and he’s had his usual good start to the season with his sprinters, making the long trip south with Fran Berry up top.

2.10 Belinda Carlisle At 80s Night On 25th May EBF Novice Stakes (5) 5f3y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Bengali Spirit’s debut second came in a small field but the third has run reasonably well since and he’s the percentage call with improvement on the cards. Carey Street was better than the result in the Brocklesby and is a likely big threat, while market support for Five Amarones would look significant given the way the Tom Dascombe 2-y-os have started the season.

Timeform Top Rated:
87p 4. BENGALI SPIRIT Richard Fahey Paul Hanagan
73p 7. CAREY STREET John Quinn Jason Hart

2.40 Napoleons Casino Bradford Handicap (4) 1m6y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Pioneering completed a hat-trick when landing a big-field event over C&D in October and is taken to extend his winning run on his return to action. The lightly raced and progressive Give It Some Teddy will be a danger if primed for his reappearance, while Dawaaleeb made a winning start for Les Eyre at Newcastle and looks on a workable mark now switching to handicaps.

Timeform Top Rated:
105 7. DAWAALEEB Les Eyre Joe Fanning
104p 12. GIVE IT SOME TEDDY Tim Easterby David Allan
103 5. PIONEERING David O’Meara David Nolan

3.10 RIU Hotels And Resorts Handicap (2) 5f3y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Michael Dods runs a couple of progressive sorts here in Dakota Gold and Holmeswood, with the former selected to take his form up another notch and land the spoils on reappearance. Atletico has been knocking on the door on AW and is much respected under Silvestre De Sousa, while the thriving Foolaad and well-handicapped Orion’s Bow are others for the shortlist in a useful sprint.

Timeform Top Rated:
127 10. ORION’S BOW Tim Easterby David Allan
120 12. SHOW PALACE Jennie Candlish Joe Fanning
120 14. RASHEEQ Tim Easterby Duran Fentiman

3.40 Pontefract Marathon Handicap (Round 2) (5) 2m5f139y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Uptown Funk is well handicapped if able to transfer the sort of form he’s shown over hurdles since joining this yard and it’s worth taking a chance on his stamina holding out. Madam Lilibet is always respected in these events, while Becky The Thatcher was disappointing on the Flat last autumn but is another who is well treated based on the level of her hurdle form.

Timeform Top Rated:
83 4. UPTOWN FUNK Keith Dalgleish Phillip Makin
81 1. TYRELL Micky Hammond P. J. McDonald
81 11. SOMETHING BREWING Iain Jardine Graham Lee

4.10 Mark Hackett Memorial Novice Stakes (5) (D.I) 6f

Analyst’s Verdict:
Those with experience don’t set the bar that high and it might be worth siding with Mark Johnston newcomer Shatharaat, although the betting will obviously provide more clues. Super D J should be all the wiser with his debut behind him and may prove next best ahead of penalised previous winner Three Saints Bay.

Timeform Top Rated:
78 3. THREE SAINTS BAY David O’Meara David Nolan
76p 8. SUPER D J Kevin Ryan Andrew Mullen
69 1. OUR OYSTERCATCHER Philip Hide Tom Eaves

4.40 Mark Hackett Memorial Novice Stakes (5) (D.II) 6f

Analyst’s Verdict:
Ingenuity bumped into a useful sort when runner-up at Newcastle when last seen and is taken to resume winning ways on his return. Like the selection, Lucky Lucky Man landed a win at Carlisle last year and will likely be all the sharper with his reappearance behind him. Wondering Spirit is a newcomer who is bred for the job, while Alhawdaj could easily leave last autumn’s debut behind.

Timeform Top Rated:
86p 1. INGENUITY Jedd O’Keeffe Jack Garritty
85 6. PACIFIC FLEET David O’Meara Shane Gray
83 2. LUCKY LUCKY MAN Richard Fahey Connor Murtagh (5)

5.15 Bootleg Beatles On 20th July Handicap (5) 5f3y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Crosse Fire has been in good heart on the AW in recent months and, having produced his best effort to date on turf when striking over C&D last summer, he could be the answer. Hot Hannah will be a live danger if able to fire on all cylinders on this seasonal reappearance, while handicap debutant Dragstone Rock and B Fifty Two are others to consider.

Timeform Top Rated:
88 8. CROSSE FIRE Scott Dixon David Allan
87 7. HOT HANNAH Michael Dods Callum Rodriguez (3)
86 2. AMAZING GRAZING Rebecca Bastiman Jason Hart

5.45 Rugby League Evening On Monday 11th June Handicap (5) 1m6y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Starboy caught the eye when keeping on from too back on his Newcastle reappearance and looks capable of winning off this mark. Harbour Pilot has only gone up 2lb for his latest Kempton success so should have a say if as effective on the grass. Mom Said appeals as the sort to do better now handicapping and is another must for the shortlist.

Timeform Top Rated:
84 5. STARBOY George Scott Silvestre De Sousa
83 12. MILAN REEF David Loughnane Stevie Donohoe
82 11. MUSBAQ Ben Haslam Tom Eaves
