Well the early 7/1 price about Society Red evaporated yesterday as we were posting and just managed to get 6’s for a modicum of profit with most of you getting wipe yer face prices. The two we mentioned in our write up finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with Gulf Of Poets landing the race from trap 6. Looking at that one, he is clearly an early season type and last year kicked off at Ponty with a win at 10f before racking up a sequence of 4 and 20lb in the ratings as a 5 year old. From trap 6 and the sharper 8f he just didn’t enter the equations 🙁

Today there’s Brighton and Yarmouth plus the first day of the Punchestown Festival – Timeform is below for that one for those of you still following that code. If you hit the link ‘PunchFest2018’ you can get a Free Download for the entire festival this week form those guys.

At Brighton the only C4 17.25 is a 7 runner and nothing of stand out ew value with just two places – possibly Mick Channon’s Sayesse is the one with wipes yer face value as the class horse in the race but nothing strong enough to warrant a bet from us. Yarmouth has one of our trackers going in Kevin Ryan’s Finisher – still a maiden and a bit too early to be taking 3 yr olds on although ran well at Chelmsford LTO.

Our members content is below….. and as ever, please drop us a line at feedback@always-back-winners.com with any questions…..we’ll be back tomorrow with hopefully something for Catterick or Epsom

3.40 Kildare Hunt Club Fr Sean Breen Memorial Chase 3m

Timeform Top Rated:
136 2. BLUE TEMPLAR Enda Bolger Mr D. O’Connor
130 1. ENNISKILLEN Peter Maher Mr B. O. Walsh (7)
126? 11. DRUMLOSH SALLIE John G. Carr Mr L. Quinlan (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Blue Templar looks the likeliest winner here with his February third a standout on form and every possibility the first=time visor will bring the required improvement. Vital Island is in good form in point to points and can follow the selection home, leaving Tippinawaynow and Drumlosh Sallie to fight it out for third.

4.20 Herald Champion Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) 2m100y

Timeform Top Rated:
158 6. MENGLI KHAN Gordon Elliott J. W. Kennedy
157 7. PALOMA BLUE Henry de Bromhead Davy Russell
156 4. GETABIRD W. P. Mullins P. Townend

Analyst’s Verdict:
Getabird was impressive when making all to score at Fairyhouse last time out and can follow up if arriving here in the same sort of form. Mengli Khan looks his biggest rival on form and won’t be far away for Gordon Elliott, leaving Whiskey Sour as the value call for the third and final placing.

4.55 Killashee Handicap Hurdle (Grade B) 2m100y

Timeform Top Rated:
166 18. GOLDEN SPEAR A. J. Martin Mr L. Quinlan (7)
165p 22. TEN TEN J. P. Dempsey M. P. Walsh
164 10. WESTERN BOY P. A. Fahy J. S. McGarvey

Analyst’s Verdict:
Ten Ten has to be a tentative pick in a field of this size and will need luck in running, but has more room to improve than most and can come home in front and follow up his Down Royal victory. Low Sun may turn out to be his biggest rival for the in-form Willie Mullins stable, though both Bunk Off Early and Dis Donc can get involved for the final places.

5.30 Boylesports Champion Chase (Drogheda) (Grade 1) 2m

Timeform Top Rated:
185+ 4. DOUVAN W. P. Mullins P. Townend
179 5. MIN W. P. Mullins D. J. Mullins
175 10. UN DE SCEAUX W. P. Mullins Mr P. W. Mullins

Analyst’s Verdict:
An in-form Douvan would win this hard-held and with his first run in a year likely to have blow away a few cobwebs he may well settle better here, in which case he is by far the likeliest winner. Stable companion Un de Sceaux is a very serious danger and won’t go under without a fight, leaving Min to finish third for a Willie Mullins one-two-three.

6.05 Goffs Land Rover Bumper 2m100y

Timeform Top Rated:
109+ 13. THAT’S A GIVEN Philip Hobbs Mr R. Deegan (5)
98p 14. THINK POSITIVE W. P. Mullins Mr P. W. Mullins

Analyst’s Verdict:
That’s A Given caught the eye when winning at Huntingdon on debut and looked sure to learn a lot from that experience. He travels over from the Hobbs yard and can come home in front from promising point to point winner Commander of Fleet and likely improver Think Positive.

6.40 Growise Champion Novice Chase (Ellier) (Grade 1) 3m120y

Timeform Top Rated:
173 10. SHATTERED LOVE Gordon Elliott J. W. Kennedy
172p 6. MONALEE Henry de Bromhead Noel Fehily
171+ 1. AL BOUM PHOTO W. P. Mullins P. Townend

Analyst’s Verdict:
Finian’s Oscar will need a career best to win here but has always been seen as a Champion in the making, and fully deserves another try at this trip for the first time following a wind operation. If he fluffs his lines then Monalee looks likeliest to take full advantage after his second in the RSA chase, though Al Boum Photo is also of interest and will be even better suited by this trip.

7.15 Dooley Insurances I.N.H. Flat 2m100y

Timeform Top Rated:
116 11. MALINAS JACK Henry de Bromhead Mr D. Roche (3)
113 15. BARRINGTON COURT Mrs J. Harrington Miss K. Harrington (3)
103 3. BARNTOWN C. W. J. Farrell Mr H. D. Dunne (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Malinas Jack has the form in the book to win this but will need to be at his very best to see off a field of potentially talented newcomers. In Your Shadow looks booked for second on debut and looks the part on paper as does Final List and both are worth noting for future reference.
