Still early days in terms of our season and despite a nice meeting at Epsom, it’s more a chance to look over ‘first time outers’ having lost effectively a couple weeks of early flat to the weather.

At Epsom the 15.55  C2 Investec City And Suburban Handicap (Class 2) (4YO plus) throws in Ajman King who beat home Monday’s Ponty selection, Society Red on final outing last term – also in that is Contango and another fancied to progress well this term.

In the race prior, 15.20 C3 Investec Corporate Banking Great Metropolitan Handicap, we’d love to see one of our old favourites from 2015/6  get his nose in front – Fire Fighting gave us some decent returns and as the ‘class’ horse in the race, he runs this course as well as any, though he’s winless on 7 attempts on this going.

However, we’ve one from Catterick today as our sole selection and BOL if you’re going with us today on that one.

On the NH front, it’s Day 2 of the Punchestown Festival – Timeform is below for that one and anyone missing yesterday’s post, if you hit the link ‘PunchFest2018’ you can get a Free Download for the festival this week form those guys.

Our members content is below….. and as ever, please drop us a line at feedback@always-back-winners.com with any questions…..we’ll be back tomorrow with hopefully something for Catterick or Epsom

3.40 Adare Manor Opportunity Series Final Handicap Hurdle 2m5f

Timeform Top Rated:
139 21. STEEL WAVE W. P. Mullins John J. Fitzpatrick (4)
138 20. KILLARO BOY Adrian Murray Paul O’Brien (2)
137 11. SMOKEY JOE JOE S. J. Mahon D. J. Hand (4)

Analyst’s Verdict:
For all he has been expensive to follow to date for Willie Mullins, it may be worth chancing Steel Wave. He shaped well initially upon joining the yard and may well have found the gruelling conditions against him when well held at Cork at the start of the month. Crossed My Mind, Tourboy, Smokey Joe Joe and Caro Des Flos head up an exhaustive shortlist of dangers.

4.20 Louis Fitzgerald Hotel Hurdle 2½m

Timeform Top Rated:
154 8. PRAVALAGUNA W. P. Mullins P. Townend
150p 6. SIRE DU BERLAIS Gordon Elliott Barry Geraghty
148 3. LE MARTALIN Noel Meade Sean Flanagan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Sire du Berlais, not for the first time, shaped well and was possibly caught back a shade further than ideal when fourth in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham, doing good late work. He essentially remains an open book for Gordon Elliott and can improve further still. Pravalaguna shaped well at Fairyhouse last time and is feared most, ahead of Not Many Left.

4.55 Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle (War of Attrition) (Grade 1) 3m

Timeform Top Rated:
163p 7. NEXT DESTINATION W. P. Mullins P. Townend
162 6. KILBRICKEN STORM Colin Tizzard Harry Cobden
160 2. BLOW BY BLOW Gordon Elliott J. W. Kennedy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Next Destination completed the hat-trick when winning a Grade 1 at Naas before looking ready for this step up in trip with a staying-on third in the Ballymore (Baring Bingham) at the Cheltenham Festival 6 weeks ago. Kilbricken Storm is an obvious threat after his convincing win in the Albert Bartlett, while Delta Work is worth a shot at this level having shown smart form to win the Pertemps Final.

5.30 Coral Punchestown Gold Cup Chase (Grade 1) 3m120y

Timeform Top Rated:
180 8. ROAD TO RESPECT Noel Meade Sean Flanagan
177x 6. KILLULTAGH VIC W. P. Mullins P. Townend
176 7. OUTLANDER Gordon Elliott J. W. Kennedy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Road To Respect was far from disgraced in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and is taken to regain the winning thread in the hope conditions aren’t as testing. Bellshill is feared most after going like the best horse at the weights for the most part in the Irish National, while it would come as no surprise if Djakadam were to run well in this race again.

6.05 Racing Post Champion I.N.H. Flat (Grade 1) 2m70y

Timeform Top Rated:
131 8. RELEGATE W. P. Mullins Ms K. Walsh
130 2. CAREFULLY SELECTED W. P. Mullins Mr D. O’Connor
128 1. BLACKBOW W. P. Mullins Mr P. W. Mullins

Analyst’s Verdict:
Relegate produced a remarkably strong finish to get up close home in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival, and she’s taken to strike again. Blackbow spoilt his chance there by pulling too hard, but would be a big threat if back to the level he showed when landing a Grade 2 at Leopardstown in February. Carefully Selected and Tornado Flyer are also closely matched.

6.40 Guinness Handicap Chase (Grade A) 2½m

Timeform Top Rated:
170p 15. PATRICKS PARK W. P. Mullins P. Townend
169 13. OSCAR KNIGHT Thomas Mullins M. P. Walsh
168 14. SHANAHAN’S TURN Colin Tizzard Harry Cobden

Analyst’s Verdict:
Patricks Park was caught further back than ideal last time, and remains capable of better on just his fourth start for Willie Mullins. Shanahan’s Turn isn’t long with his current yard either and arrives on the back of a good second in the Topham, while the consistent Blast of Koeman should give another good account.

7.15 Weatherbys General Stud Book Irish European Breeders Fund Mares I.N.H. Flat (Liss A Paoraigh) (Grade 3) 2m70y

Timeform Top Rated:
117 1. COLREEVY W. P. Mullins Mr P. W. Mullins
116p 13. TINTANGLE Gordon Elliott Miss N. Carberry
114 14. BLACK TEARS Gordon Elliott Ms Lisa O’Neill

Analyst’s Verdict:
Fairyhouse 1-2 Tintangle and Masons Daughter are likely to come to the fore again and the Gigginstown mare can confirm those placings with another success. Champion Bumper-seventh Colreevy and Largy Glory are a couple of the other likely types.
