It wan’t a bad run with Saturday’s ‘tale..tail? of 2 Franks’……Charles Bishop got Frank Bridge up into 2nd and the latter, Colonel Frank just missed by a head in the place hunt. Any views on why Charles Bishop doesn’t get more rides – he gave us some excellent returns last year and seems confined to predominantly EJ-H and Mick Channon.

Yesterday he was out on just two and landed a double at Salisbury. Last season backing blind he was in profit with a near 20% win rate and is at 33% from 15 rides this term!!!!! – views on a postcard please – or through the comments below?

Nigel Tinkler gave us a nice Friday winner and he followed that up over the weekend with another of his sprinters going in at 5f….albeit a short priced 5/2. Not that we recommended it, but just a point of note for those of you following angles.

Back to today…..

We have one going at Thirsk we have already had a look at this season and one for the evening at Windsor both at double digit prices – Timefom is for the ‘heavy’ at Salisbury.

2.00 Simon & Nerys Dutfield Memorial British EBF Novice Stakes (4) 5f

Timeform Top Rated:
77p 4. STEEVE Rod Millman William Carson
66 6. TREASURE QUEST Brian Meehan Adam McNamara (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Steeve was keeping on well at Bath 10 days ago, and he’s taken to put his experience to good use. However, newcomers My Dear Friend, Acadian Rocks and Mersey all need taking seriously, with the market likely to offer up some clues.

2.30 CPA Scaffolding Salisbury Handicap (5) 6f

Timeform Top Rated:
89 2. GLORY OF PARIS Rod Millman William Carson
88+ 10. LETMESTOPYOUTHERE David Evans John Egan
88 7. WASEEM FARIS Ken Cunningham-Brown Pat Dobbs

Analyst’s Verdict:
Glory of Paris forced a well-treated one to work hard at Windsor 2 weeks ago, and with conditions holding no fears, he seems sure to make another bold bid. The consistent Jashma and Pride of Angels head up the opposition.

3.05 CPA Scaffolding Handicap (6) 1m1f201y

Timeform Top Rated:
75 8. MINIATURE DAFFODIL David Evans Rossa Ryan (5)
70 4. JOHNI BOXIT Gay Kelleway William Cox (5)
69 3. CAN CAN SIXTY TWO Mick Channon Callum Shepherd

Analyst’s Verdict:
Miniature Daffodil still looks ahead of his mark and is taken to regain the winning thread. Red Miracle and Can Can Sixty Two are potential improvers now heading into handicaps over a longer trip.

3.40 Peter Symonds Catering Fillies’ Handicap (4) 1½m5y

Timeform Top Rated:
101 3. FLIGHT OF FANTASY Harry Dunlop Kieran O’Neill
100 2. LADY BERGAMOT James Fanshawe George Wood (3)
99 4. VILLETTE Dean Ivory Rob Hornby

Analyst’s Verdict:
Lady Bergamot showed progressive form last year and there’s every possibility she can continue that theme into 2018 (in good hands and remains lightly raced). Flight of Fantasy and Twenty Times are a couple of others to consider.

4.15 Matthew & Matthew Solicitors Handicap (6) 1¾m44y

Timeform Top Rated:
74 1. SEASEARCH Andrew Balding William Cox (5)
73 4. SAY ABOUT IT J. S. Moore John Fahy
72 3. MASTER GREY Rod Millman William Carson

Analyst’s Verdict:
Seasearch has been in good nick on the all-weather recently and could prove hard to beat if transferring that form to turf. Master Grey and Pollyissimo are feared most in that order.

4.45 Sharp’s Doom Bar Handicap (6) (D.I) 1¾m44y

Timeform Top Rated:
77+ 5. BEYEH Michael Appleby Kevin Lundie (5)
76 2. OCHOS RIOS David Evans Rossa Ryan (5)
75 3. MISS DUSKY DIVA David Drinkwater William Carson

Analyst’s Verdict:
Beyeh hasn’t been seen in this sphere since 2014, but she arrives fit from hurdling so could be worth chancing from a tempting mark. The in-form Ochos Rios may prove the biggest threat ahead of Miss Dusky Diva.

5.15 Sharp’s Doom Bar Handicap (6) (D.II) 1¾m44y

Timeform Top Rated:
78 6. OCEAN GALE Richard Price William Cox (5)
77 7. BRIAC Mark Pattinson Callum Shepherd
77§ 1. SPIRITOFTOMINTOUL Tony Carroll Poppy Bridgwater (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Ocean Gale shaped as if retaining all her ability when third at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago, and with this step back up in trip a plus, she looks capable of striking again. Briac shouldn’t be ruled out returning to this sphere on a tempting mark, with Miskin and Heron a couple of others to consider.
