I knew it wasn’t going to be a good day after drawing Panama and Nigeria in the office World Cup Sweep 🙁 …a couple of 5th places weren’t good enough to get any returns in the handicaps we tackled, though Jedd O’Keeffe’s charge Remember The Days was running on well at the finish and we’ll note where he goes next. It was the ex-Irish’s first run for the trainer and he doesn’t look badly treated off 78.

There’s nothing of note today – chiefly a 3yo watching brief at Redcar and the evening meeting at Musselburgh has only the 19.10 as a C5 we would look at in desperation.

Timeform is for the Redcar meet for those looking at something today with the speedmeisters commentary & selections below.

2.10 Racing UK Club Day Here Today Selling Stakes (6) 5f

Timeform Top Rated:
71 2. TARRZAN Mick Channon Silvestre De Sousa
65p 7. WILLOW BROOK George Scott Josephine Gordon
61 4. GO ANNIE GO David Evans Rob Hornby

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mick Channon is representeted by another son of Bungleinthejungle in the form of Tarrzan who offered a bit to work on on debut at Dundalk for William McCreery and should come in for a no-nonsense ride from Silvestre De Sousa here. Willow Brook lied up with the principals to a point on her debut, so she is a likely improver along with Go Annie Go.

2.40 Visit The All New racinguk.com Fillies’ Novice Stakes (5) 5f217y

Timeform Top Rated:
96 8. LEFT ALONE Hugo Palmer Josephine Gordon
88 7. ANGEL’S GLORY Roger Varian Andrea Atzeni
86 6. QUEEN PENN Richard Fahey Tony Hamilton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Pretty Baby might have got off the mark last year, but there’s no way we’ve seen the best of her yet, her expert trainer sure to draw plenty of improvement out of her as the campaign progresses. She’s taken to improve past Left Alone and Angel’s Glory, who both command respect.

3.10 Subscribe To Racing UK On YouTube Novice Median Auction Stakes (6) 7f

Timeform Top Rated:
94 5. ROBSDELIGHT Gay Kelleway Silvestre De Sousa
92 4. MR GENT Ed Dunlop Josephine Gordon
75 8. DESTINATA James Fanshawe George Wood (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Robsdelight strikes as a likeable sort and has already proved himself capable of fairly useful form so he boasts excellent claims of getting off the mark here under Silvestre De Sousa. Well-bred newcomer Ekanse is the obvious danger, but conditions as testing as this may not be ideal on debut, and Mr Gent needs to bounce back to form if he’s to make any impression.

3.40 Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Handicap (4) 7f219y

Timeform Top Rated:
102p 9. BERTOG John Mackie Tom Eaves
101 2. POET’S PRINCE Mark Johnston Franny Norton
101 4. MAKSAB Mick Channon Silvestre De Sousa

Analyst’s Verdict:
The scopey Poet’s Prince already has a couple of wins under his belt this year and appeals as the type to continue progressing for a good deal longer, so he gets the narrow vote in this tightly-knit affair over another upwardly-mobile sort in Completion. Bertog shaped well for a long way at Newmarket on his reappearance and appeals as the pick of the others.

4.10 Watch Racing UK In Stunning HD Claiming Stakes (6) 7f

Timeform Top Rated:
84 2. AL KHAN Kevin Ryan Ben Robinson (5)
82 1. ACRUX David O’Meara Daniel Tudhope
82 6. SHOVEL IT ON David Evans Silvestre De Sousa

Analyst’s Verdict:
Shovel It On improved towards the end of last summer and, while he made an underwhelming return at Windsor earlier in the week, he seemed uncomfortable with the trip that day so he should be capable of accounting for some much more exposed sorts dropping in grade back at this trip. Acrux and Al Khan are the obvious threats on form, but neither has a particularly likeable profile.

4.40 Watch Racing UK Anywhere Handicap (5) 1¼m1y

Timeform Top Rated:
88p 10. CRISTAL SPIRIT William Haggas Daniel Tudhope
87 12. HE’S OUR STAR Ali Stronge Graham Lee
84 5. NIBRAS GALAXY Ismail Mohammed George Wood (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Cristal Spirit hails from a top yard and arrives on the back of a highly encouraging handicap debut so, with further improvement on the cards, he’s an obvious choice to take this from the same mark. Firby and He’s Our Star are the clear pick of the others based on their latest efforts, but there are several with the potential to do better.

5.10 Watch Race Replays At racinguk.com Handicap (6) 7f219y

Timeform Top Rated:
74 5. DON’T CRY ABOUT IT Ali Stronge Silvestre De Sousa
73 3. PLANSINA Roger Fell Tony Hamilton
70 7. CONFLAGRATION Ed Dunlop Daniel Tudhope

Analyst’s Verdict:
Plansina is an upwardly mobile filly who shaped well in testing conditions at Wetherby recently, so she boasts a much more compelling profile than the bulk of her rivals in what looks like a weak 3-y-o handicap. Most of the remainder have something to prove, but If We Can Can and Benaras both appeal as the types to up their form now handicapping.
