Friday – 12th October 2018

Cesarewitch & Dewhurst weekend starts today at Newmarket with a full card of C1 & 2 that we will pass over in favour of another quality meeting on the Knavesmire.

Alemaratalyoum goes in the C2 14.40 Racebets Money Back 2nd 3rd 4th Handicap – we’ll stay out of that one, though he looks on the upgrade and should be around the enclosure so if taking the sponsors, RaceBets money back offer then it looks a low risk 5/1 that they are offering.

In the 16.25, we had a nice win with Camacho Chief the other week – looking at the race it’s obviously a very competitive affair and Michael Dods sprinters are usually primed for York. He goes double handed in this with likely favourite Holmeswood. However with the money in the bank on the former and just around 6’s that looks little value. Paula Muir has a good relationship with him but as a hold up type will have it all to do from the back of the pack and we’ll not take that on today. Looking at the others, Copper Knight looks a bit of value on old form – he’s done all his winning in C2 and this surface, though never really strikes after the summer.

We’ve one below for members at a decent double digit EW price.

1.50 Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes (Group 3) (1) 5f

Timeform Top Rated
124p 6. TRUE MASON K. R. Burke Ben Curtis
122 2. POCKET DYNAMO Robert Cowell Oisin Murphy
122 4. SERGEI PROKOFIEV Aidan O’Brien Donnacha O’Brien

Analyst’s Verdict:
True Mason shaped very well when runner-up in the Mill Reef, the relative emphasis on stamina seemingly his undoing having moved through the race best of all. The return to the minimum trip will hold no terrors and the son of Mayson can come out on top. Pocket Dynamo, Poetry and Well Done Fox are a trio of others fancied to feature.

2.25 Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (Group 3) (1) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
114 1. ANGEL’S HIDEAWAY John Gosden Robert Havlin
110p 8. SUNDAY STAR Ed Walker Gerald Mosse
108p 4. GLANCE Ralph Beckett Harry Bentley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Frosty is bred in the purple and overcame inexperience to make a winning debut at Dundalk late last month, produced to lead 1f out and ultimately winning readily. Open to significant improvement, she can take the rise in class in her stride. Hidden Message was impressive when landing her respective debut at Yarmouth and is feared, along with Angel’s Hideaway, who boasts plenty of experience.

3.00 Godolphin Stud And Stable Staff Awards Challenge Stakes (Group 2) (1) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
133 4. LIMATO Henry Candy Harry Bentley
129 2. D’BAI Charlie Appleby William Buick
128 5. MANKIB William Haggas Jim Crowley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Last year’s winner Limato is clear on ratings and should prove hard to beat after his back-to-form wins at Newmarket and York. Mankib has made good progress since joining his new yard this season and is feared most ahead of D’bai.

3.35 bet365 Fillies’ Mile (Group 1) (1) 1m

Timeform Top Rated
132 6. PRETTY POLLYANNA Michael Bell Daniel Tudhope
120p 3. HERMOSA Aidan O’Brien Donnacha O’Brien
116p 8. ZAGITOVA Aidan O’Brien Seamie Heffernan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Hermosa looked all about stamina when pipping Zagitova for third in the Moyglare at the Curragh, and, a Group 3 winner at Naas since, is taken to give Aidan O’Brien a sixth win in this. Antonia de Vega did well to take a Group 3 at Goodwood last time and is feared most ahead of Pretty Pollyanna, who’s well clear on ratings but has stamina to prove.

4.10 bet365 Old Rowley Cup (Heritage Handicap) (2) 1½m

Timeform Top Rated
124p 4. ROCK EAGLE Ralph Beckett Harry Bentley
123 6. JACK REGAN Ian Williams Kieran O’Neill
123 8. BERKSHIRE ROYAL Andrew Balding Franny Norton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Almost certain to prove strong form, with Rock Eagle appealing most given he should relish this trip and could ultimately prove to be better than a handicapper in due course. Astronomer chases a 5-timer and he surely won’t go down without a fight, with Baritone another with his best days ahead of him.

4.45 Godolphin Under Starters Orders Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (3) (D.I) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
99p 12. RHOSSILI DOWN Charles Hills Jamie Spencer
94P 8. MARY SOMERVILLE John Gosden Frankie Dettori
85p 5. INCLYNE Andrew Balding Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mary Somerville created a really good impression when second at Kempton on debut recently, and is sure to win races. Rhossili Down is a similarly promising once-raced filly, while newcomers Prodigious and Nearooz make plenty of appeal on paper.

5.20 Godolphin Under Starters Orders Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (3) (D.II) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
103p 12. STAR OF WAR Richard Hannon Tom Marquand
99p 4. HERITAGE Clive Cox Adam Kirby
93p 8. NIGHT SECRET William Haggas Daniel Tudhope

Analyst’s Verdict:
This is surely a deep back-end maiden, with Night Secret the suggestion having shaped well from an unpromising position when third starting out at Lingfield 3 weeks ago. Star of War has achieved the most of these so far but the return to 7f is a concern, so Heritage is perhaps the main threat unless there’s a smart newcomer lurking.

5.55 Jumeirah Al Qasr Pride Stakes (Listed) (1) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated
123 1. CHAIN OF DAISIES Henry Candy Harry Bentley
117 3. EURO NIGHTMARE Keith Dalgleish Tom Marquand
113 5. QUEEN OF TIME Henry Candy Adam Kirby

Analyst’s Verdict:
Last year’s winner Chain of Daisies ran no sort of race last time but she was an easy winner at Salisbury the time before and sets a clear standard if quickly bouncing back. Euro Nightmare is another who has to put her last effort behind her but that came in a unique test and she is capable of being in the mix back in this type of race. German-raider Akua’rella is another with place claims.
