Hopefully not a ‘grim reaping’ selection today….yesterday we hit the cross bar again with Wotabreeze at Epsom last night as he finished a length down in 2nd and Kingstreet Lady finished just one out of the slots at Doncaster.

Another big day’s cards with Ascot, York, Chester and Chepstow to supplement the July Meeting at Newmarket  – anyone missing yesterday, you can still get that FOC download from the speedmeisters HERE that covers off the entire meets top class races plus there’s further views with today’s card below.

Up at York (17.00), HAROME gave us a nice winner earlier in the season – he has run well on both starts since and LTO and was 3rd in the jump jockeys sprint handicap here last month. The winner, Fendale re-opposes here but that win was under Graham Lee and with Harome back under Ben Sanderson, his 5lb claim should see him near the winners enclosure but too tight for us at under 4’s.

We have just one for members at York this afternoon.

For those on the £1k to £10k challenge, it’s been 3 months of incremental profits…….our bank has grown by over 100% with an ROI of over 35%….current stakes are now £25.70 EW

1.50 bet365 Handicap (Silver Bunbury Cup) (2) 7f

Timeform Top Rated:
104 6. ZAP Richard Fahey P. J. McDonald
103 4. TRUTH OR DARE James Bethell Kevin Stott
103 5. SALUTI Amanda Perrett Jim Crowley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Swift Approval is yet to run a bad race over C&D and can win this for the second time in 3 years. War Glory is in good form and looks the big danger under Ryan Moore. Maksab is another who goes well on this course and shouldn’t be discounted.

2.25 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes (Sponsored By bet365) (Group 2) (1) 6f

Timeform Top Rated:
118p 8. MAIN EDITION Mark Johnston James Doyle
117p 7. LA PELOSA Charlie Appleby William Buick
114 6. GOSSAMER WINGS Aidan O’Brien Ryan Moore

Analyst’s Verdict:
The Albany form is key and La Pelosa is taken to reverse placings from Royal Ascot with Main Edition. That was just her second career start and she seemed to lack the know-how of the winner in the closing stages. She can improve past her now. Chaleur is another exciting filly and needs considering at a bigger price.

3.00 bet365 Handicap (2) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
121p 5. DESERT WIND Ed Vaughan Stevie Donohoe
120p 2. WISSAHICKON John Gosden Frankie Dettori
120 4. BERINGER Alan King Martin Harley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Wissahickon is improving in leaps and bounds and looked a very smart colt in the making when winning at York last month, recording a fast timefigure. He can take this with Group company clearly on the horizon. Desert Wind and Zaaki are also progressing nicely and have to be feared.

3.35 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (Group 1) (1) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
136 3. ALPHA CENTAURI Mrs J. Harrington Colm O’Donoghue
124 5. CLEMMIE Aidan O’Brien Ryan Moore
120 6. NYALETI Mark Johnston Joe Fanning

Analyst’s Verdict:
Alpha Centauri is difficult to oppose following an outstanding performance in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and can complete a hat-trick of Group 1s. Threading is the type to do better still and could be the one to chase Alpha Centauri home again.

4.10 Weatherbys British EBF Maiden Stakes (3) 7f

Timeform Top Rated:
96p 5. DOMBRA Hugo Palmer Joe Fanning
92p 10. MOUNT TABORA Aidan O’Brien Ryan Moore
90p 11. NAYEF ROAD Mark Johnston P. J. McDonald

Analyst’s Verdict:
The strength behind Mount Tabora in the market on his Curragh debut looks significant and he’s taken to prove a different proposition second time up. Machell Place and the Charlie Appleby pair Art du Val and Al Hilalee head a number of interesting newcomers, while Nayef Road and Dombra both shaped nicely when runner-up recently.

4.45 Gordon’s Handicap (2) 1¾m

Timeform Top Rated:
117 4. SAUNTER Ian Williams Jim Crowley
116p 3. ELGIN Alan King Martin Harley
116 1. HOCHFELD Mark Johnston James Doyle

Analyst’s Verdict:
Elgin scored with plenty in hand for the second time in this sphere at Catterick last month, and there’s every chance his opening mark could underestimate him given his very smart form over hurdles. Hamada remains lightly raced and is likely to improve further, while Saunter may benefit from a return to this trip.

5.20 Saeed Suhail Saeed Handicap (3) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
101p 7. CORROSIVE Hugo Palmer James Doyle
100 1. FASTAR Brian Meehan Frankie Dettori
99 3. MEDIEVAL Paul Cole P. J. McDonald

Analyst’s Verdict:
An interesting finale with Corrosive selected to come out on top. He ran respectably in the Britannia at Royal Ascot and can get back on the up returned to calmer waters. Vitamin brings solid C&D form to the table and may have more to offer on just her third handicap start, while Fastar is another to consider.
