1.15 Betway Handicap Hurdle (4) 2m3f171y

Timeform Top Rated:
116 7. OUTBACK BLUE George Bewley Jonathon Bewley (3)
115 2. TOKARAMORE Iain Jardine Danny McMenamin (7)
114 9. URBAN KODE Lucinda Russell Thomas Willmott (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Triangle Rock was unlucky to bump into a well-treated sort here in November and is worth another chance having possibly found the race coming too soon last time. Outback Blue and Tokaramore are others to consider in a tricky opener.

1.45 Betway Chase (Novices’ Limited Handicap) (4) 2m7f170y

Timeform Top Rated:
136 1. GETTYSBURG ADDRESS Dr Richard Newland Sam Twiston-Davies
132 3. COUGAR’S GOLD Peter Bowen James Bowen
129 2. ELMONO Lucinda Russell Derek Fox

Analyst’s Verdict:
Dual-winning hurdler Gettysburg Address found improvement, on only his second start in this sphere, when runner-up at Bangor earlier this month and can take this tricky-little contest. Recent C&D winner Elmono is feared most.

2.20 Betway Cosmic Case Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (4) 1m7f124y

Timeform Top Rated:
139p 1. INDIAN OPERA Iain Jardine Ross Chapman
124 4. WEST COAST LASS R. Mike Smith Stephen Mulqueen (3)
122p 3. GRACELAND Donald McCain Brian Hughes

Analyst’s Verdict:
It’s difficult to look past Indian Opera, who left her hurdling debut effort well behind when a wide-margin winner here last time and is open to further improvement. Graceland could be the one for the forecast.

2.55 Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier) (3) 1m7f124y

Timeform Top Rated:
134 2. ROYAL RESERVE Lucinda Russell Derek Fox
130 1. NAYATI Donald McCain Brian Hughes
129 3. DESERT ISLAND DUSK Maurice Barnes Dale Irving (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Royal Reserve did well to overcome the run of the race when making a winning stable debut at Newcastle last month and a 5 lb rise in the weights ought not prevent a bold follow-up bid. Desert Island Dusk may emerge as the chief danger.

3.30 Betway Handicap Chase (5) 2½m68y

Timeform Top Rated:
113 1. JOHN WILLIAMS Sandy Thomson Rachael McDonald (5)
112 4. COOL VALLEY William Young Jnr Henry Brooke
109 2. BENNY’S SECRET N. W. Alexander Lucy Alexander

Analyst’s Verdict:
John Williams arrives at the top of his game and also has an excellent record at this track, so is taken to defy top weight dropping back down to a class 5. Benny’s Secret only just failed over C&D 11 days ago on what was his second start over fences and is the obvious threat.

4.00 Betway Casino Standard Open National Hunt Flat (4) 1m7f124y

Timeform Top Rated:
113 2. HIGHWAY COMPANION Keith Dalgleish Brian Hughes
107 1. ENLIGHTEN Michael Easterby Connor King

Analyst’s Verdict:
Keith Dalgleish operates at a near 30% strike-rate with jumpers at this venue and Haydock runner-up Highway Companion is expected to prove too strong for Mick Easterby’s Enlighten.
