Friday Newsletter – 1st February

Again both cards were lost on Thursday – Wincanton was a bit of a surprise with following their twitter feed not anticipating any issues.

Both Friday’s meets at Catterick & Chepstow have already gone so we’re already looking to Saturday – for which Musselburgh has already been called off well in advance. That just leaves Sandown and Wetherby aside from the AW, so it maybe we pop something up for Kempton or Lingfield for some interest if the worst comes to the worst 🙁

With no NH today…. we were passed a decent read yesterday from the Smart Betting Club concerning how bookmakers monitor your activity and Stake Factoring

Just hit the link HERE to check it out.

1.45 Ladbrokes Home of The Odds Boost Fillies’ Handicap (5) 1m1y

Timeform Top Rated:
93 5. LADY ALAVESA Gay Kelleway Non Runner
91 6. DELICATE KISS John Bridger Liam Jones
90 2. YUSRA Marco Botti Daniel Muscutt

Analyst’s Verdict:
Delicate Kiss has been in good form in C&D handicaps of late and gets the nod. Yursa is next on the list ahead of the penalised First Link.

2.20 Follow Sun Racing On Twitter Claiming Stakes (6) 7f1y

Timeform Top Rated:
101 3. LOYALTY Derek Shaw Callum Shepherd
90 1. DRAKEFELL Richard Hannon Mark Crehan (7)
86 2. LOS CAMACHOS David Evans Katherine Begley (5

Analyst’s Verdict:
Assuming all is well following a 9-month lay-off, Loyalty should have little trouble in dispatching with his 3 rivals on these terms. Drakefell is preferred to recent Wolverhampton winner Los Camachos for forecast purposes.

2.55 Ladbrokes Novice Stakes (5) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
100+ 6. WATER’S EDGE James Tate Ryan Moore
77p 1. FAST BOY David Simcock Jamie Spencer
72 2. FLY LIGHTLY Robert Cowell Non Runner

Analyst’s Verdict:
The step up to this trip brought about improvement in Water’s Edge, who finished well when runner-up in a C&D handicap 16 days ago. He is taken to go one better with Ryan Moore in the hot-seat. Heavenly Tale ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and it will be interesting to see which way she goes in the betting, while Fast Boy shaped well on debut here last month and is open to improvement.

3.25 Betway Conditions Stakes (2) 1m7f169y

Timeform Top Rated:
122 2. GREY BRITAIN John Ryan Adam Kirby
120 3. LORD GEORGE James Fanshawe Ryan Moore
120 4. STARGAZER Philip Kirby Rossa Ryan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Preference is for Lord George, who lost no caste in defeat when a close third under top-weight in a 12f handicap here last time. Going back up in trip will be in his favour and the 6-y-o can exploit any chinks in the armour of Grey Britain, who looked better than ever when striking at Wolverhampton in December but is unproven over this far. Watersmeet should also have a part to play.

3.55 Play 4 To Score At Betway Novice Stakes (5) 5f6y

Timeform Top Rated:
89 6. KEY TO POWER Mark Johnston Joe Fanning
84 7. STARCHANT John Bridger Liam Jones
74 3. INVINCIBLE ONE Sylvester Kirk Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Key To Power split a couple of useful fillies when runner-up in a Thirsk maiden on her sole start as a 2-y-o, and she is hard to oppose in a race lacking strength in depth. Starchant clearly has her limitations but has shown enough to suggest that she can claim second place money ahead of Invincible One.

4.30 Betway Apprentice Handicap (3) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
100 4. FAYEZ David O’Meara C. J. McGovern
99 1. NONIOS David Simcock Dylan Hogan (3)
98 2. C NOTE Heather Main Ellie MacKenzie (7

Analyst’s Verdict:
Tactically this trappy-looking affair could play to the strengths of C Note, who is likely to get his own way out in front and boasts solid form claims judged on his effort in a Class 2 handicap here last week. Fayez has slipped to a workable mark and, having returned to form with creditable displays at Wolverhampton and Newcastle the last twice, he is feared most ahead of Nonios.
