Catterick, Ffos Las and Ascot to consider today, at the former Sue Smith has Straidnahanna out in the 13.50. We’ve had bits about this one in the past and has an enviable record at the track with 4 wins and is 3 from 3 over C&D. However, it’s their newcomer The Paddy Pie that looks the one to be on from a lumping point of view off bottom rung and the preference of Danny Cook. It’s the only real race of the day where the majority come in on the back of a seasonal run, however with nothing of value at 8’s plus we’ll leave alone for members today

Yesterday we were out the slots in a race that threw up a 66/1 winner!!! – Timeform today is for the Ascot meet and we’ll be back in the morning before 10.00am.

For those on the new £1k to £10k, current stakes are now £11.30 EW and the bank stands at £903.69

1.00 Tindle Newspapers Novices’ Chase (3) 2¼m175y

Timeform Top Rated:
157p 1. WENYERREADYFREDDIE Nicky Henderson Nico de Boinville
143p 2. AZZERTI Alan King A. P. Heskin
135p 7. STORM HOME Colin Tizzard Harry Cobden

Analyst’s Verdict:
Wenyerreadyfreddie confirmed the promise of his Uttoxeter maiden chase second in no uncertain terms when readily landing a C&D handicap earlier this month, noted jumping superbly. He’s a chaser to keep onside and can concede weight all round back in novice grade. There are a host of interesting sorts in opposition however, Azzerti and Moon Racer to name but two.

1.30 Royal Ascot Racing Club ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle (3) 2m3f58y

Timeform Top Rated:
129p 6. MOONLIGHTER Mrs Jane Williams Lizzie Kelly (3)
128 2. EASTER ERIC David Pipe Tom Scudamore

Analyst’s Verdict:
An intriguing contest. Moonlighter gets the nod to step up on his encouraging Bangor hurdle debut last month but he faces some promising recruits from the bumper field in Breaking Waves, Westbury and Geordie B. Market support for the Nicky Henderson newcomer Igor would bring him very much into the reckoning.

2.05 David Brownlow Charitable Foundation “Introductory” Hurdle (2) 1m7f152y

Timeform Top Rated:
142p 8. RATOUTE YUTTY Dan Skelton Harry Skelton
140p 1. COMMANCHE RED Chris Gordon Tom Cannon
137P 2. DIDTHEYLEAVEUOUTTO Nick Gifford Barry Geraghty

Analyst’s Verdict:
A red-hot event that can go to Thomas Darby. He has done really well to win both his starts (a bumper and maiden hurdle) despite looking very raw in the process and could be the best prospect in this superb field. Commanche Red and Didtheyleaveuoutto look sure to be making an impact at a higher level before the season is out also.

2.40 Waitrose & Partners Handicap Chase (2) 2m5f8y

Timeform Top Rated:
163 1. ROYAL REGATTA Philip Hobbs Richard Johnson
157§ 4. VALUE AT RISK Dan Skelton Harry Skelton
154 2. COBRA DE MAI Dan Skelton William Marshall (10)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Royal Regatta has hinted at temperament but there are reasons to believe he can bounce back here from a much-reduced mark after 12 months off. Cobra de Mai and Royal Village are others to consider.

3.15 Davidstow Handicap Chase (3) 2m7f180y

Timeform Top Rated:
151 2. BATTLE OF SHILOH Tom George Noel Fehily
150 1. MINELLA DADDY Peter Bowen Sean Bowen
149p 5. CABARET QUEEN Dan Skelton Harry Skelton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Battle of Shiloh might have lost his way in the last year or so but he’s still the class act in this field so, if his shrewd handler has sweetened him up for this return, he should have too much for this opposition dropping in grade. Cabaret Queen is a definite danger with her latest run easy to dismiss and Vice Et Vertu’s excellent record under Paddy Brennan can’t be ignored.

3.50 Coutts Handicap Hurdle (2) 1m7f152y

Timeform Top Rated:
153? 1. JOLLY’S CRACKED IT Harry Fry Noel Fehily
151 3. FLYING TIGER Nick Williams Richard Johnson
148 7. CHATEZ Alan King Wayne Hutchinson

Analyst’s Verdict:
The useful performance of Chatez when second in a Newbury Flat handicap last month shows all his ability is still there and he gets the nod off what could prove a favourable mark in this sphere. Distingo returned with a good second at Huntingdon last month, while Flying Tiger has been given a chance by the handicapper and is now lower than when winning the Fred Winter in his juvenile campaign.
