Final day of a standstill month that promised a great deal at the start that we have been unable to build on – however that is to be expected at some stage and let’s look to finish on a high and kick on through the final couple of months. Today there’s Timeform from Sandown’s card with meets at Thirsk and Hamilton to back that up.

We’ve backed Christmas Night a few times for some place finishes and is back on favoured AW at Wolves in the 17.35 for those of you liking lumping types – however, there’s some cracking handicaps at Thirsk and unusually we have THREE for members from there below today

For those on the £1k to £10k challenge….our bank has NOW grown by over 150% to over £2.5k with an ROI of over 25%….current stakes are now £28.50 EW.

Today’s Selections

A cracking few handicaps today – lets look to finish the month on a high with Iconic Code not threatening the scorers yesterday…unusually we have three ahead of the weekend that hopefully will swing us back into profit this month

Thirsk 15.40

We backed Ron Thompson’s MR STRUTTER earlier this season at Beverley and then he followed that up with a 5/1 win that we missed out on 🙁 LTO ran respectably in 4th at Newcastle on the AW, so still looks in decent nick.

He clearly likes it here with 2 wins from 3 runs and as a front running type gets a cracking trap 1 draw today – we’re hoping Andy Elliot gets him quickly away and near the head of affairs throughout……we’ll take the best 9/1 with Betfair about him this morning.

Thirsk 15.40 – Mr Strutter

Thirsk 16.15

OUR CHARLIE BROWN gave his running this week and no reason why he shouldn’t continue to get amongst the places at least. His best winning form is around mid 70’s where he currently resides and despite all winning form at Catterick & Musselburgh looks to go well on any sharp track LH or RH, so no reason he should have any issues on his first run here.

We’ll take that with a best 7’s to press with Rachel Richardson up top again.

Thirsk 16.15 – Our Charlie Brown

Thirsk 16.45

We said we would be following the progress of another Tim Easterby charge, KENNY THE CAPTAIN who is definitely a ‘back end of season’ type. He ran respectably last week for us and  despite upped to a C3 can cut it in this grade. He won a C4 here last year before quickly following up with a 2nd in a C3 at Donny.

Rachel Richardson is on top again who knows him well with and over 50% win/place record when on his back and we’re taking the 20/1 with BETFRED and FOUR PAYING PLACES about him with 3 paying with the rest.

Thirsk 16.45 – Kenny The Captain

1.40 Read Silvestre de Sousa At 188Bet Nursery Handicap (Qualifier) (5) 5f10y

Analyst’s Verdict:
This is more competitive than the Ffos Las nursery in which Across The Sea opened her account but she did the job well and, with the promise of better to come, a 7 lb rise may not be enough to prevent her from striking again. Swiss Pride is respected on the back of his creditable Goodwood effort but Li Kui and Time For Bed may emerge as bigger threats, and Slowmo also enters calculations.

2.10 188Bet Live Casino Handicap (5) 5f10y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Grey Galleon appeared to have a fair bit left in the tank when scoring over 6f at Goodwood last week and while stall 9 isn’t ideal, he should prove a tough nut to crack off the same mark here. Clive Cox’s charge is still low mileage for a horse of his age and dropping back in trip shouldn’t be an issue on this stiffer track. Maygold, On A Roll and Secret Potion can do battle for minor honours.

2.40 Bet & Watch At 188bet.co.uk EBF Maiden Stakes (5) (D.I) 7f
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 91 98 104 92 93 (Avg 96)

Analyst’s Verdict:
A potentially hot maiden. Alrajaa could well be open to more than normal improvement following a promising debut over C&D 8 weeks ago, and appeals as the most likely winner. There are interesting newcomers in opposition however, notably stable-companion Forest of Dean and Sir Michael Stoute’s Sovereign Grant.

Timeform Rating of previous winners: 91 98 104 92 93 (Avg 96)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Arguably not so well contested as the first division, and a chance is taken on Coup de Gold, who ticks plenty of boxes on debut. Almania was too green to do himself justice on debut, and is the most interesting of those with previous experience. Buffalo River is another newcomer to note.

3.50 Best Odds Guaranteed At 188Bet Handicap (3) 1m

Analyst’s Verdict:
The vote in this competitive-looking contest goes to Wafy, who lost little caste in defeat when third in a minor event at Doncaster on his latest start in June. That form is working out pretty well and he makes his handicap debut off what may prove to be a lenient mark. Global Conqueror is next best ahead of fellow hattrick seekers George and Mushtaq, while Lord Vetinari is also accorded respect.

4.25 188Bet Mobile Bet10 Get20 Handicap (4) 1m1f209y

Analyst’s Verdict:
There should be better to come from Red Striker, who went close on his handicap bow at Nottingham, despite finding himself in a poor position when the race began in earnest. The addition of cheekpieces looks a good move and he gets the nod ahead of the hat-trick seeking Whitlock and the promising Extra Large. Birthright is also worthy of consideration.

5.00 188Bet Extra Place Races Fillies’ Handicap (5) 7f

Analyst’s Verdict:
The one who stands out is Narjes, who escapes a penalty for her recent Brighton win so has obvious claims of following up. Teenage Gal and Arabian Jazz arrive in form and could prove the biggest threats.
