No joy with our members selection Fair Power last night at Newbury in a race won by the Mick Channon favourite Caravela under SDS 🙁

Back to matters today, on the eve of the ‘Eclipse’ there is Timeform for the Sandown…not a lot of interest in that meet for us, albeit the likes of Shamshon & Blue De Vega go in the 13.20, both around 10 below a highest winning rating both ran in the Epsom ‘Dash’ where the latter looked as though he could have gotten closer to the winner Tanasoq but for not getting a clear run – he was clearly mentioned in the ITV commentary that he was the unluckiest to follow the winner home and probably in a lot of peoples notebooks based on that….. both are on offer around 8’s.

We’re heading up to Beverley this evening for our sole bet of the day

For those on the £1k to £10k challenge, it’s been 3 months of incremental profits…….our bank has grown by over 110% with an ROI of over 40%….current stakes are now £26.35 EW

1.20 London Insurance Day Handicap (3) 5f10y

Timeform Top Rated
106 1. VIBRANT CHORDS Henry Candy Fran Berry
105 7. JASHMA Richard Hughes Nicola Currie (3)
105§ 3. OPEN WIDE Amanda Perrett Jim Crowley

Analyst’s Verdict:
None of these can be safely discounted but Vibrant Chords is the one who appeals most. The 5-y-o shaped as though he’d be better for the run on his recent reappearance spin at Chelmsford and he’s now 2 lb lower in the weights. Rio Ronaldo opened his 2018 account at Salisbury last week and should again be firmly in the mix, while Jashma needs considering and Open Wide also looks dangerous.

1.50 Dragon Stakes (Listed) (1) 5f10y

Timeform Top Rated
106 2. JUNGLE INTHEBUNGLE Mick Channon Andrea Atzeni
103 5. CHAPELLI Mark Johnston Silvestre De Sousa
101 7. COUNTRY ROSE Ronald Harris David Probert

Analyst’s Verdict:
It was a struggle for Jungle Inthebungle and Chapelli in the Windsor Castle but they both looked promising prior to that, a comment which is particularly true of the former. Indeed, Mick Channon’s charge improved when landing a strong minor event at Beverley and a reproduction of that would probably suffice. Collect Call isn’t short of potential and also enters calculations.

2.25 Good Care Group British EBF Novice Stakes (4) (D.I) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
90p 2. ARCTIC SOUND Mark Johnston Silvestre De Sousa
89p 3. CANAL ROCKS Henry Candy Fran Berry
83p 8. SINJAARI Ed Dunlop Adam Kirby

Analyst’s Verdict:
Newcomers Line of Duty and Alrajaa both make plenty of appeal on paper and confidence behind either colt in the betting would look significant. As things stand, preference is for Line of Duty, who is out of a 2-y-o winner and represents powerful connections. Arctic Sound chased home a potentially useful type on debut at Haydock and he merits respect, while Canal Rocks also needs considering.

3.00 Good Care Group British EBF Novice Stakes (4) (D.II) 7f

Timeform Top Rated
89p 5. PERSIAN MOON Mark Johnston Silvestre De Sousa

Analyst’s Verdict:
While Andrew Balding’s newcomers usually come on for a run, Fox Premier is very appealing on paper and the hint should be taken if the market speaks in his favour. The Frankel colt is one of several likely-looking types, with King of Comedy and Three Comets also boasting excellent pedigrees. Persian Moon shaped well on debut at Newmarket and can be expected to make his presence felt.

3.30 Davies Insurance Services Gala Stakes (Listed) (1) 1m1f209y

Timeform Top Rated
128 6. MUSTASHRY Sir Michael Stoute Jim Crowley
123 4. EUGINIO Richard Hannon Silvestre De Sousa
122 7. SPARK PLUG Brian Meehan Jamie Spencer

Analyst’s Verdict:
Euginio is clearly an improved performer this season and a reproduction of his latest effort in the Wolferton at Royal Ascot would make him a tough nut to crack. Mustashry is feared most, for all that he’s entitled to come on for the run following a 9-month absence, while Big Country makes each-way appeal.

4.05 Besso Handicap (2) 1m1f209y

Timeform Top Rated
109+ 9. BLUE LAUREATE Ian Williams Martin Dwyer
108 3. NOT SO SLEEPY Hughie Morrison Adam Kirby
108 5. MELTING DEW Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore

Analyst’s Verdict:
The vote goes to Blue Laureate, who made eye-catching late headway on debut for Ian Williams over 9f here last month and figures on a potentially handy mark. There are dangers aplenty, headed by recent AW winners Melting Dew and Alfarris. Pivoine, a decisive C&D 3 weeks ago, is also one for the shorlist.

4.40 Sequel Handicap (4) 1¾m

Timeform Top Rated
96 3. DARK PEARL Ed Walker Jamie Spencer
93+ 1. ZEELANDER Roger Varian Andrea Atzeni
93 4. JACOB CATS William Knight Adam Kirby

Analyst’s Verdict:
Dark Pearl went close over C&D last time and, with just 9 starts under his belt, he probably has more to offer. Ed Walker’s charge is marginally preferred to Zeelander, who was turned over when odds on for a York handicap but he is also lightly-raced and looks a big threat. Jacob Cats shaped as though coming to hand here a few weeks ago but lacks the potential of the aforementioned rivals.

5.15 CNA Hardy Handicap (Lady Amateur Riders) (5) 1m

Timeform Top Rated
105 1. MICHELE STROGOFF Michael Appleby Miss Barbara Guenet
104+ 3. BIOTIC Rod Millman Miss Ellie MacKenzie (5)
104 5. DARK CONFIDANT Donald McCain Miss Ella McCain (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Biotic resumed winning ways at Leicester last week and a 6 lb penalty may not be enough to prevent him from following up. Conversely, Scrutiny looks vulnerable and Biotic may have most to fear from Michele Strogoff, who has been knocking on the door this season, and Mach One.
