Friday Newsletter – 8th March 2019

Racing from Leicester and Sandown on Friday with Timeform below for the former meet.

Looking at ones we have previously backed, Bajardo was our first bet of the NH way back in November but has shown nothing since and today goes on first run since a wind op. He’s up in the Leicester (15.25) against another we backed in November, Ballylagan – that ones dropped a significant amount but without a win in nearly 2 years. They are both the outsiders of the 8 going to post and hardly a recommendation on efforts this term.

We have another for members backed previously going in later race at Leicester, along with one at Sandown for members below.

1.50 Royal Lancers Beginners’ Chase (3) 1m7f201y
Timeform Rating of previous winners: – 155 114 128 139 (Avg 134)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Neither Hatcher nor Boite are bombproof tackling fences for the first time, the former a tricky ride and the latter a Flat-bred 9-y-o making a late switch to chasing, but the Skelton gelding is marginally preferred as dominating small fields is definitely his bag.

2.20 Vichai Srivandhanaprabhah Handicap Chase (3) 2½m45y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Midnight Chill has improved switched to chasing this winter, landing 2 of his 4 starts and running with credit despite making errors when runner-up at Taunton last time. In a trappy affair, he is given the narrow vote to come out on top. Cobra de Mai, down in class, and Cave Top head up the dangers.

2.50 Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry Handicap Chase (4) 1m7f201y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Cracking Destiny has taken well to fences and can quickly resume winning ways having had excuses at Taunton. The in-form Quantum of Solace is feared most.

3.25 Leicestershire And Derbyshire Yeomanry Handicap Chase (5) 2½m45y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Waikiki Waves was better than the bare result at Lingfield last time and can quickly resume winning ways having made a winning debut in this sphere the time before. Chasma has dipped below her last winning mark and is next best ahead of The Captain.

4.00 Bakers Waste Open Hunters’ Chase (5) 1m7f201y
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 116 116 122 124 117 (Avg 119)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Ballotin should come on plenty for last month’s hunter debut and this drop in trip will likely help too, so he looks the way to go. Eastlake is a class act at this level but gives his running only sporadically these days, so Full Throttle is feared most.

4.30 South Notts Hussars Handicap Chase (5) 2¾m151y

Analyst’s Verdict:
Waitinonasunnyday ran his best race to date under Rules when landing a C&D contest 10 days ago and he could be worth chancing to follow-up in a similarly ordinary affair. Arquebusier and Troika Steppes are feared most, in that order.
