Horse Racing Selections – 15th October 2021
We end the working week at Redcar and Haydock on the turf.
There’s also an AW meeting at Newcastle where a couple of our decent sorts this term, Peachey Carnahan and Muatadel go H2H. Thoughts on that one below and one for Haydock as well.
Back in the morning with Catterick our last official turf meeting of the season around 9.00 am
For those on the new 2021/22 £1k to £10k Annual Challenge, the bank is £1009.84 and current full stakes, unless advised, £12.62 EW
The 2021 Turf bank currently stands at +52.66 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 37% win/place rate.
The 2020/21 All Weather bank ended at +144 pts to 1pt EW stakes with over a 39% win/place rate.

Personally I stake half at 4 places and half at 3 places to get BOG in case of a drift! What do other people do? I assume for the records you count it as 8/1 or 9/1 as advised with 4 places this morning??

I only have 2 firms that still give me BOG, and one of those only after 10am. I sometimes put half my stake on at Betfair SP in case of drift.

Another bloody moose goes it at 20/1. ‘Bomber Wells’ has gone malarkeying around fog platting because he thinks it’s cheaper than this rubbish Gary serves up. The brains trust are quiet,scratching their heads with stats all over the place. Don’t waste your time trying to work out when these mooses are going for it, just leave it to Gary,he must know when they have not wet the bed.
Great work Gary. I am using half stakes on everything i use until the proper racing (N.H) starts in a couple of weeks and your focus is on the all weather. That in no way reflects on your ability to find winners. That is set in stone.

For some reason most of my words have disappeared. Anyway, what I was trying to say was, well firstly, great selection.Muatedel, is that how you spell it, has been fantastic for this service this year!
When you select a horse at 8/1 and 4 places it almost certainly means that when a horse drifts in the market like today you end up losing an awful lot of money as most, if not all bookies, don’t pay bog on additional places. Personally I usually put half my stake on 4 places and half on 3 places to try and cover the drift.
Can I ask what other people do and am I right in thinking that you only count it as a 8/1 winner today as you declared the selection at 8/1 and 4 places?
Can I leave a recommendation for Coral with whom I recently signed up? Can back the night before (if needed) at BOG, and have extra places on many races.
PS. You won’t find them (or Lads) on Oddschecker but they are on ATR
I will try and talk some sense Roger and not the usual smart arse stuff. If you take a price with the likes of Skybet for the extra place you do not get the best odds guarantee and miss the drifter price like Muatadel. I also think a lot of these Bog’s will only take a certain amount if you are a regular winner. I tend to use Betfair and split my win stake on taking a price and the betfair S.P. I nearly always go for the extra place and this can be with Betfair or bookies which have extra place only markets (lots do). I know i am trying to cover all bases and it might be seen by some as conservative betting. It works for me i think and the success of ABW has been mirrored by healthy returns for me. As usual you have to be patient and trust that Gary will deliver the goods. He hasn’t got the name of postman for nothing.
