Horse Racing Selections – 17th September 2020

Thursday sees the start of the Ayr Festival culminating with the Gold & Silver Cups on Saturday. There’s also cards at Ponty and Yarmouth providing more action.

Looking at Ponty, the only ones we have backed so far this term go H2H in the (16.20). Jim Bethell’s Ulshaw Bridge finished 2nd for us LTO and Tim Easterby’s Garden Oasis a nice all the way winner for us at Ripon. The former has been backed into favourite and certainly gets a decent pace to aim at with the latter who looked back in the grip of the handicapper last two runs. Both are well drawn to exploit that and Ulshaw Bridge certainly looks the pick on the handicap having run competitively in C3’s last term off 10 higher.

At Ayr there’s a host of trackers out, albeit festivals are always a bit of a bone of contention for me with numerous laid out to win.

Thoughts are also turning AW and one of our past winners goes tonight who I was tempted to kick the season off with. Milton Bradley’s Muraaqeb won for us last term and is quite prolific at Chelmsford (20.30). Despite a couple of poor showings of late on the turf which isn’t unusual, he was given a run over the 12f at Wolves LTO, and back here over his customary 10f, 3lb under last winning mark should be dangerous with a nice draw at better than wipes yer face 6’s.

Today’s Selections

…….Mushaarif ran up an enhanced placed 4th for some small beer tokens…..I guess we called it right in the commentary that Indian Sounds was the unbackable short priced favourite and North Wind doesn’t want to get his head in front!!!…

Ayr 16.30

We backed this chap, TRUE BLUE MOON LTO at Haydock where he ran up 4th behind Marshal Dan and Fahey’s consistent yardstick, Zip off levels.

His best run was a close up 3rd behind Firmament in a C3 at York and subsequently behind Gallipoli at Chester in another C3.

He was highly regarded over in Ireland running G3 races off 100 and winning form off 87 for Joseph O’Brien. Dropped down to Class 4 should be more competitive and opt for him over our other tracker, Byron’s Choice (selection if ours goes N/R). He has also landed on a very appealing mark, but as we have said in the past looks a bit ‘anti-social’, preferring sub 10 runner races 🙂

With David Allan not coming up today and on a solid looking Highwaygrey at Ponty (15.20), Duran Fentiman takes over the steering and a likely to come from off the pace, which there looks plenty to come off with Kevin Ryan’s Vera Magic drawn close by.

There’s plenty 0f 14’s available with FOUR paying slots.
