Horse Racing Selections – 18th July 2020

It’s John Smith’s Cup Day at York, with Haydock, Bath and Newbury besides.

A bit of a milestone day, as it was the first meet I ever attended 40 years ago when Fine Sun won the Magnet Cup as it was then.  I managed to drop the placepot of just over £30, which was a significant amount of beer tokens in 1980, mostly spent in Skipton on the ‘charra’ ride home 🙂

Looking at that C2 ‘Heritage’ handicap as it is now, we have just a sole tracker from last weeks entry notes in Tim Easterby’s Dark Jedi. He looks  progressive, having won with a fair lump in hand backing up his Hamilton win, and the trainer describes him as, ‘maybe a Saturday horse’ – he certainly hope so today. It’s a uber competitive race, though with 5 and 6 places and 16’s on offer may be good enough to land something from that?
