Horse Racing Selections – 19th April 2022

Tuesday’s cards come from Epsom and Yarmouth on the turf.

The former has a couple of nice Class 2 & 3 handicaps to watch. The opener (13.50) is likely to be a very quick 5f. Recon Mission won this last year off a similar mark. Great form here (followed up over the 6f later last year) makes him a decent wipes yer face bet from a nice low draw.

The City & Suburban (14.55) has a lumping priced Soto Sizzler as favourite. He completed a double over 1m 4f here in 2019 before a winless 2020. Won over this trip at Newmarket last October however, with re-opposing Bad Company a length back in second.

The former does come in the back of a Listed run at Kempton. David Menuisier is a Facebook friend and proudly posts this morning that the yard are in fine fettle. Last nine runs read 1-1-3-2-7-3-5-2-1 and notched their first winner of the season in the Roseberry at Kempton yesterday with Belloccio.

However, looking at more in our pricing remit, we’ll look at one from Yarmouth today who arrives fit from the all-weather.

Another ‘hit the crossbar ‘ moment yesterday with Point Of Woods just getting done at 50/1!

That would have been a nice early present and hopefully not a precursor to a repeat of last term when we trotted out all those 2nds 🙁

  1. Seems bizarre to me how the stake would be reduced to a 1/4 pt presumably because of price when the particular price range you are reducing your stake on provides the greatest profit. Of course I’m free to stake as I see fit or not at all but to adjust stakes for purely for price ranges is not going to maximise profit at all and is poor advice.

    • Easy to say after a couple of decent priced places. Stake as you see fit Chris. My LSP back 1pt ew irrespective of what I say. It says challenge players for the flexing stakes. It’s only April ffs 🤣 Id be crucified backing full stakes on the challenge with the form notoriously up and down this month.

  2. I’m looking at 12 months results not yesterdays

  3. Your place rate is essentially the same with adv 16/1 or higher than it is below which should tell you something.
