Horse Racing Selections – 23rd January 2020
Meetings at Southwell in the afternoon and Newcastle in the early evening are the two all-weather race meetings today.
There’s nothing of note up at Gosforth Park on the evening, whilst at the former, 5 races on the card have gone 7 or under in terms of runners. However, the opening sprint (12.40) and last (16.05) 12f are worth a look and comments are in the member’s area.

…..another bridesmaid last night 🙁
Southwell 12.40 La Menage Enchante has won last twice here in races that have worked out well and must take credit racing in the kickback? However, looks worthy of taking on and we’ll take the lightly raced made SIX TIL FIVE to continue his upward progression in this low-grade affair. Robyn Brisland’s string are running well and KT O’Neill is always of interest up top. The pace should come from the outsider Champagne Mondays from trap 1, and with mid-high draws favourable should have no traffic problems from trap 11. He’s finished 3rd on last 3 appearances here, the latter of which have been very fast run suiting the hold-ups. LTO it was a similar draw where he was doing his best at the finish but eased down when couldn’t challenge the favourite losing 2nd place close home. That was an improved RPR and we’d expect him to be thereabouts again with not quite as much pace on? He’s on at just about our limit and we’ll take the best 5/1 BOG with bet365 and the regulation 3 paying slots.

Southwell 16.05 Micky Quinn drops PRINCESS HARLEY back in trip and who failed to stay the extra 2f when tried over 14f LTO. She has shown good form here in the past and the rise from his last win back in December to 61 is still 6 below another winning mark here just over a year ago. Clearly at home on the fibresand where she has a 50% place record including 2 wins from 6 runs at around this mark. The Bishop is up top who rides the middle distances well and an excellent judge of pace. There’s the best 10’s with quite a few outfits this morning and we’ll take that with BOG and bet365.
