It looks like the all-weather at Lingfield will be the sole survivor for UK racing on another week starting with desperate weather.

Nonetheless, it’s hardly an inspirational card with just a couple of 4+ handicaps. The (15.00) has gone a 7 runner with a couple of trackers going. Michael Wigham’s My Target is the first and longer priced of those with Tom Marquand up top. The veteran continued to run really well in upper 70’s, though does limited for win potential in this grade. More to the liking for the lumpers would be Brain Meehan’s Palavecino who appeared in our tracker notes, early Feb.  He went off at 40/1 that day and the lightly raced charge made a winning start as a juvenile clearly has the ability to take a race like this and on around 3’s.

The only other handicap is the (17.00) apprentices where the Tony Carroll-trained Bold Decision is likely to go off as the favourite. The stable is in decent nick, although disappointed LTO at Chelmsford. Hardly a recommendation and the like of  Come On Bear looks the more likely lumper of the pair. Looking at the rest there’s hardly anything stand out to warrant a bet and we’ll pass over today with Kempton looking a whole lot better meeting tomorrow.
