Horse Racing Selections – 28th January 2022

Friday’s all-weather racing cards come from Lingfield and Wolves.

At the former LTO selection Red Evelyn goes in the (13.05) apprentices. Up against another previous selection Soyounique both head the market around 5/2. On this run cannot find a stab at Not Now Zeb from Scott Dixon’s yard (14.45). Has been noted since coming in from Ireland. An all-weather virgin was poor LTO but may just benefit coming off the back in what promises to be a pacey affair.

There’s one at Wolves early evening.

  1. Will January be a blank month I ask myself, hope not but it’s looking like it will be. I hope this isn’t a service that tries to profit from places and sees winners as a nice bonus. Please tell me that’s not the case. I was hoping it was trying to profit from winners and offset losses with places.

  2. You need to change the statement in the ‘Targeted Races’ section on the ‘How it works’ page. The races you focus on are mainly class 6 which isn’t mentioned. Your bets contain over 40% of class 6 races, 40% classes 4&5. When things are going bad that is the time you need to be on it more with the numbers. Maybe this is one reason for the poor performance these last few months, the quality of the races and horses are poor, which is leading to poor results.

  3. When using only AW stats class 6 accounts for over 50%, class 5 over 25%.

  4. Good luck today Gary.
    You mention Not Now Zeb.
I’ll forgive his LTO run. The race before that, ran 4Th. three ahead of him have won 4 since.
Blinkers removed, apprentice takes another 3Lb off.
Today, only his 2nd time round a bend. Lets see how he runs.
I’ll have a fiver ew and hope to see some improvement.

  5. Chris your feedback will fall on deaf ears , I have been requesting my email profile be set up since I Joined.

In the How it works says you get an email when a selection is posted this don’t work either. this is broke with a message [fue-subscriptions-form].

Old Socks Havanna/Shyjack my 2 against the field in the 18:45

    • I have replied several times Steven. You unsubscribed for some reason. GDPR does not allow me to resubscribe you. If you cant go in and resubscribe then send me an alternative email address.

  6. Great write up Ian. You mention going round a bend !!1. Well these Elks will send you round it no doubt about that.Poor old Chris thinks the quality of horses and races is why the results atm are poor. He might be correct because we are dealing with some of the lowest of the low here…. As for Not Now Zeb. He has definitely gone over to the dark side since coming over from Ireland. Won three races off 76.77 and 82 winning a 20K race over there !! Today he goes off 66 with a 3LB claimer on. Could it be his day or does he now prefer grazing with Elks. Your guess is as good as mine…. Just one last point. Chris talks about profiting from places and the winners are a bonus. Well i can say without doubt it was the winners that built up the profit and hopefully they will get us out of the current slump. What placed horses do imo is soften the blow and keep putting shrapnel into the pot. People who back win only need balls of steel and accept inevitable long losing runs when you back at the prices we do.

    • Poor old Ian ( we’ll all be poor soon if the winners don’t start arriving), you may have been here since day one but I’ve been here since the end of last March and I don’t see many winners at all, I’m entitled to be underwhelmed by this service, the subs are not free and it’s 56 losers in a row now.

  7. There’s a good 6 years of past results to analyse Chris. I really feel for the guys who have come on board since March. Not a lot I can do about it and a good few have left. I dont believe I am tipping up in any different fashion to the start. I have well over 100 member’s been with me since Day 1 of the website after finishing on Facebook. Three 1 to 10ks in that time and as recent as last March. I guess I was due an out at some stage and hardly happy with it myself.

  8. Gary will tell you, I’m pretty thorough inspecting the results for the current season (I joined in March 2020) and I have no problems in questioning the data. One of the processes I used to check the efficiency of the service was stitching all of the available past data together, and going forward the new data. I have uploaded a chart here with my findings https://ibb.co/8g9x2NT

What I can say for me, is as ever, past performance is not a guarantee of future profit. However, you can look towards the end of 2019 (on the chart) and there was a similar lul compared with 2021-22. I guess this time, the difference is there is a double lul. So as an investor, you can do 1 of 3 things – cease the trade, up your stakes or lower your stakes.

For me I have decided to reduce my stakes presently to reduce the lul – when things show a pickup again, I will revert back to my original bank and plan.

Interestingly, whilst other services have lost me money over the previous year, ABW managed to maintain a largely net zero bank. This has changed slightly with the latest downward run, however, I come here to put my £1000 at risk, and after 11k Staked and a 200 so far loss, given the run is poor, its not actually that bad when you look at the bigger picture.

    I have crypto which has taken as massive dive lately (eg my BTC has lost over 40% value), but it will bounce back;

The winners are coming in, the horses we back are coming in, just not necessarily in the race we placed the bet on them.

Does another loosing bet P*ss me off, yes, but then I have to go back to the start – I came to 10x my £1000 in a field I have no knowledge other than past performance.
