Horse Racing Selections – 5th June 2020

 

The 2nd day of Newmarket’s Guineas meeting with the feature being the Group 1 Coronation Cup.

However, more of interest to us are the 3 six furlong handicaps through the afternoon for looking at potential future betting material.

Just looking at the northern challenge in the C2 (13.50), Jedd O’Keeffe has acquired Flavius Titus from Roger Varian. That one has wins here on the quick going before his season bombed at Goodwood and Donny when he didn’t beat a horse home. It will be interesting to see how Jedd turns him about and one performance to note today.

The other charge of interest in that race is David O’Mearas’s Summerghand. Coincidentally he followed home Flavius Titus in the former’s opening win at HQ last season and went straight into our 2019 tracker. He was runner up in the St Wilfreds at Ripon before we backed him for some place money when finishing 4th in the Ayr Gold Cup. He won his final start on the AW on Boxing Day and should should be thereabouts on around 7’s.

Outside of that, the Tim Easterby yard is one we follow and he has had a couple of winners so far. Golden Apollo goes in the (17.55) and is down a grade from his last run when winning the Ayr Silver Cup. It’s been a while since he has won on anything this quick and another we will keep tabs on along with the trainer.

Again, nothing official from us and we’ll be back tomorrow with any thoughts of note.

Next week we have 3 days of Haydock and Ponty to look forward to and get our campaign under way 🙂
