Monday – 16th July 2018

Back to what seems a regular Monday with a night meeting at Windsor and racing at Ayr and Ripon on the afternoon with Timeform for the former of those below….

We’ve nothing really of note at Windsor….Epsom Secret is an option in the opening apprentices race (17.50) – LTO he had to get into position from a really poor draw and after that had no extra at the finish in a race 2f below his optimum. Back up to the 10f tonight the previous C&D winner is on around wipes yer face prices 9/2.

Ripon has gone all 6 & 7 runner asides from the (17.25) C6 where we have one going for members along with one at Ayr to open the week

The last couple of weeks have seen us through the £2k barrier and then yo-yo around that mark with a two winners and five better than wipe yer face places from the 15 or so bets placed…….another conversion from those places would have been welcome to really kick us on?

For those on the £1k to £10k challenge, it’s been 3 months of incremental profits…….our bank has grown by over 98% with an ROI of over 30%….current stakes are now £24.78 EW

5.50 Skybet Britain’s Most Popular Online Bookmaker Apprentice Handicap (6) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
71p 6. ADVANCED VIRGO George Scott Joshua Bryan
70+ 9. GANNICUS Brendan Powell Thomas Greatrex (3)
69 3. EPSOM SECRET Pat Phelan Paddy Bradley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Advanced Virgo has failed to build on his debut promise in 2 subsequent starts but it’s not hard to envisage this 3-y-o taking a sizeable step forward now pitched into a handicap. This stiffer test is more in-keeping with his pedigree, too, and it’ll look significant if the market speaks in his favour. Epsom Secret put in a good shift at Lingfield last time and is next best ahead of Frantical.

6.20 Pattonair Derby EBF Novice Stakes (5) 6f12y

Timeform Top Rated:
98p 9. MAGICAL WISH Richard Hannon Silvestre De Sousa
92p 2. BARRISTAN THE BOLD Tom Dascombe Paddy Pilley (3)
81p 12. REDDIAC Ed Dunlop Adam Kirby

Analyst’s Verdict:
It’s hard to look beyond Magical Wish, who looked a useful prospect when going close on debut at Salisbury and will go on to better things. Barristan The Bold should pick up a race before long and is preferred to newcomer Garrus for forecast purposes.

6.50 Sky Bet Price Boosts British EBF Maiden Stakes (5) 5f21y

Timeform Top Rated:
87 5. SWISS PRIDE Richard Hughes Pat Dobbs
85p 2. CONCIERGE George Scott Silvestre De Sousa
72p 8. SUPERSTITION Gary Moore Hector Crouch

Analyst’s Verdict:
Concierge shaped with plenty of encouragement when third in a big-field 6f maiden here on debut 3 weeks ago. Dropping back to the minimum trip is unlikely to inconvenience the son of Society Rock and he looks the way to go. Sussex Solo was a place adrift of the selection in that maiden and should be better for the experience but bigger threats may be posed by Swiss Pride and Superstition.

7.20 Sky Bet Top Price Promise Handicap (Qualifier) (3) 5f21y

Timeform Top Rated:
109 6. AIRSHOW Rod Millman Joey Haynes
106 1. TOMILY Richard Hannon Rossa Ryan (3)
106 4. JUST THAT LORD Michael Attwater David Egan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Airshow‘s sole win on turf was gained on a slow surface but proved that he’s equally at home on fast ground when just edged out over 6f at Newmarket last time. On the evidence of that display, dropping back to the minimum trip will be in his favour and Rod Millman’s charge should prove a tough nut to crack. Tomily is edging down the weights and looks dangerous, while Just That Lord is also feared.

7.50 Sky Bet Fast Withdrawal Selling Handicap (5) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
76 5. VODKA PIGEON Adam West Silvestre De Sousa
75 6. SAY ABOUT IT J. S. Moore Liam Jones
71 1. MOUCHEE David Evans Adam Kirby

Analyst’s Verdict:
Vodka Pigeon failed to fire at Brighton last time but may have found the race coming too soon, just 5 days after her near miss at Lingfield. She is taken to open her account with Silvestre De Sousa doing the steering. Say About It is feared on the basis of his creditable recent effort at Chepstow and Mouchee is also likely to be in the thick of things.

8.20 Sky Bet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap (4) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
100+ 2. JUS PIRES Jeremy Noseda James Doyle
99 5. BLAZE OF HEARTS Dean Ivory Robert Winston
99 6. ZAMPERINI Mike Murphy Nicola Currie (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Jus Pires bumped into a progressive Godolphin colt on his C&D reappearance a fortnight ago, and this lightly-raced 4-y-o makes plenty of appeal off the same mark. Twenty Times needs considering on the back of her solid Goodwood effort. Blaze of Hearts also enters calculations and Swilly Sunset, who has slipped to a dangerous mark and is 4-7 when ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, merits respect, too.

8.50 Sky Bet Racing Cash Out Fillies’ Handicap (4) 1m31y

Timeform Top Rated:
85 3. PRIDE’S GOLD Simon Crisford Silvestre De Sousa
84+ 6. REGINA PACIS Roger Charlton Jamie Spencer
84 4. ZORAYA Paul Cole Raul Da Silva

Analyst’s Verdict:
Sharp Practice shaped as though she’s getting the hang of things when fourth at Chelmsford recently and, with improvement likely pitched into a handicap, this well-bred filly is taken to strike for the in-form Sir Michael Stoute yard. Regina Pacis, another lightly-raced handicap debutante representing a top yard, is feared most ahead of Andalusite.
