Iain Jardine’s Mabel Lee was closing down the winner all the way to the line at Musselburgh and would have won with another 100yds run whilst Dourado eeked out that 4th paying place at Epsom to give us a modicum of profit from yesterday’s two selections. That finishes off September and our 6th consecutive month of profit for the flat season  – with the bank having shifted £730+ northwards through the month from those 4 winners and 15 places!!! A couple more of those converting would have been a lot more welcome but we’ll live with that and move on into the last couple of months racing.

2.10 Iesis Group Nursery Handicap (5) 5f160y

Timeform Top Rated:
86 9. NANANITA Daniel Loughnane Liam Jones
85 4. LONDON ROCK Richard Hannon Tom Marquand
83 1. SWISS PRIDE Richard Hughes Finley Marsh (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
A competitive nursery that can go to Second Collection. She caught the eye at Wolverhampton on her last run and is the type to do a fair bit better now going handicapping. Michaels Choice and Pont Vert, both potential front runners, are a couple of the other key players.

2.45 myracing.com For Daily Tips ‘Hands And Heels’ Apprentice Handicap (5) 5f160y

Timeform Top Rated:
89 3. LITTLE PALAVER Clive Cox Amelia Glass (3)
87 1. KASBAH Amanda Perrett William Carver (3)
86 2. FIELD OF VISION John Flint Kieran Schofield

Analyst’s Verdict:
Though he’s failed to trouble the judge so far this year, Little Palaver has slipped to an attractive mark and is worth siding with in what looks a wide-open contest. Major Valentine had a couple of these behind when scoring at Chepstow, but he’s far from certain to back that up and bigger threats may be posed by Kasbah and Andalusite.

3.15 Dribuild Group Novice Stakes (5) 1¼m37y

Timeform Top Rated:
95p 5. GENTLE LOOK Saeed bin Suroor Oisin Murphy
86p 8. SKYMAX Ralph Beckett Harry Bentley
82 7. SALAM ZAYED Brian Meehan David Egan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Several of these should be winning before long but the one that stands out this time is Gentle Look, who stepped up on his rather disappointing debut when third in a 12-runner event at Sandown. He remains open to improvement and should prove too strong for Skymax, who also left his first-time-out display well behind when placed in a Salisbury novice last month. Craster is best of the rest.

3.50 Champion Curo Homes Handicap (5) 1¼m37y

Timeform Top Rated:
82 5. FANFAIR Richard Hannon Rossa Ryan (3)
81 8. WAR OF SUCCESSION Tony Newcombe Franny Norton
80 7. YAMUNA RIVER Chris Gordon Silvestre De Sousa

Analyst’s Verdict:
It would be no surprise were Cottingham to step up on what he’s shown in AW minor events now faced with a stiffer test and pitched into a handicap. Indeed, his opening mark may well prove to a very fair one and he gets the nod ahead of Fanfair, who returned to form when third off this mark at Sandown. War of Succession, successful over C&D recently, and Yamuna River are others to consider.

4.20 Taylors of Bath Handicap (6) 5f10y

Timeform Top Rated:
81§ 13. EVERKYLLACHY J. S. Moore John Fahy
80 4. YOGIYOGIYOGI Denis Coakley Oisin Murphy
80 5. GRECIAN DIVINE Joseph Tuite Charles Bishop

Analyst’s Verdict:
A chance is taken on Union Rose, who actually wasn’t beaten that far over this C&D in 0-80 company last time. He’s been eased another 3 lb since and contests a Class 6 handicap for the first time in his career. Everkyllachy has solid clains judged on her latest effort, but her temperament isn’t all it could be and Secret Potion and Yogiyogiyogi are bigger threats.

4.55 Brakes Group Handicap (6) 1m5f11y

Timeform Top Rated:
73 4. KIRKLAND FOREVER Eve Johnson Houghton Charles Bishop
71 13. THAHAB IFRAJ Alexandra Dunn Stephen Cummins (7)
71 3. MISS M William Muir Oisin Murphy

Analyst’s Verdict:
Kirkland Forever finally opened her account at Brighton a fortnight ago, and did the job well enough to suggest that a 5 lb rise may not be enough to prevent her from going in again. Miss M’s latest effort wasn’t one of her better ones, but she’s eased in class now and warrants respect with Oisin Murphy aboard. Street Jester, back to form when striking over C&D last time, also has claims.

5.30 Brakes Handicap (6) (D.I) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
76 7. UNBRIDLED SPIRIT Andrew Balding Oisin Murphy
75 8. CALEDONIA LAIRD Jo Hughes Joshua Bryan (3)
74 12. FRANTICAL Tony Carroll Gabriele Malune (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Dropping back to this trip should suit Unbridled Spirit, who wasn’t beaten far off 2 lb higher at Chepstow last time and this represents a golden opportunity for Andrew Balding’s charge to open his account. Edge was runner-up off this mark at Ffos Las 4 starts back and he looks dangerous, while Frantical and Ferrier are both in with an each-way shout.

6.00 Brakes Handicap (6) (D.II) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
74 7. BIG BAD LOL Ed Walker Richard Kingscote
73 14. CAPTAIN SEDGWICK John Spearing William Carson
73 3. RAVENHOE Mark Johnston Oliver Stammers (7)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Big Bad Lol deserves to get his head back in front having hit the crossbar the last twice, and he may well do just that if responding well to the first-time cheekpieces. The hat-trick seeking Princess Way is an obvious threat given that a 3 lb rise for her latest victory looks fair. Captain Sedgwick didn’t do much wrong when third off this mark last time and she also enters calculations.
