1.30 ayrgoldcup.co.uk Novice Stakes (5) 6f

Timeform Top Rated:
90p 2. AXE AXELROD Richard Fahey Paul Hanagan
87+ 1. KUWAIT STATION David O’Meara David Nolan
74p 5. FUENTE Keith Dalgleish Phillip Makin

Analyst’s Verdict:
Axe Axelrod failed to live up to his market billing when runner-up on debut at Hamilton but that defeat was more owing to greenness than anything else. Likely to be sharper this time, the Street Sense colt should prove too strong for the penalised Kuwait Station, who is the clear main danger. Fuente’s debut wasn’t devoid of promise and he’ll probably do better in time.

2.00 Best Flat Races Live On Racing UK Handicap (6) 6f

Timeform Top Rated:
73 1. VALLARTA Ruth Carr James Sullivan
72 10. HOUSE OF CARDS Iain Jardine Jamie Gormley (3)
71 9. BRENDAN Jim Goldie George Downing

Analyst’s Verdict:
Recent winning form is at a premium in this handicap and the fact that Vallarta was successful over this C&D a fortnight ago makes him more appealing than most. A 3 lb rise for that looks fair and he is taken to follow up, perhaps at the chief expense of the lightly-raced Supaulette. The likes of Brendan, Duncan of Scotland and House of Cards should all be in there pitching for minor honours.

2.30 Racing UK’s Biggest Ever Flat Season Handicap (4) 5f

96 2. JABBAROCKIE Eric Alston Jason Hart
95 1. BATTEN THE HATCHES David Barron Ben Curtis
93 5. PRIMO’S COMET Jim Goldie George Downing

Analyst’s Verdict:
Batten The Hatches hasn’t made much of an impact so far this season but he nevertheless makes plenty of appeal off this reduced mark back in 0-85 company. The in-form Jabbarockie is an obvious threat following his recent Haydock victory and Fool For You will be a player if reproducing the form of her penultimate start. Conversely, Primo’s Comet appears to be more of a force on the AW.

3.05 QTS Ladies Night On 11 August Handicap (6) (D.I) 7f50y

Timeform Top Rated:
74 1. ROYAL DUCHESS Lucy Normile Connor Murtagh (5)
73 4. ROBBEN RAINBOW David Barron Ben Curtis
72 2. JESSIE ALLAN Jim Goldie George Downing

Analyst’s Verdict:
Ventura Royal took a step back in the right direction when third at Hamilton and, 2 lb lower now and with this drop back in trip a good move, she earns the vote. Robben Rainbow remains on a fair mark following his recent Catterick victory and may emerge as the main danger, though Jessie Allan, a winner over 6f here last time, and Ayr regular Royal Duchess merit respect, too.

3.35 QTS Ladies Night On 11 August Handicap (6) (D.II) 7f50y

Timeform Top Rated:
77 1. MISCHIEF MANAGED Tim Easterby Duran Fentiman
74 8. CHISWICK BEY Jacqueline Coward Paul Hanagan
72 2. REINFORCED Michael Dods Connor Beasley

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mischief Managed has done little wrong this year, putting in another good shift when runner-up on the AW last time, and he looks the most solid option. Reinforced stepped up on his inauspicious reappearance display when third at Carlisle and a reproduction of that should see him go well. I Am Dandy is taken to reverse recent C&D placings with Stardrifter and also play a part in the finish.

4.10 Watch More With Racing UK Extra Handicap (6) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
88 8. LOTARA Jim Goldie Jamie Gormley (3)
84 6. CRAZY TORNADO Keith Dalgleish Connor Beasley
82 3. COVIGLIA Jacqueline Coward Nathan Evans

Analyst’s Verdict:
Lotara found just one too good off a 1 lb higher mark at Hamilton last week and is very much the one to beat on that evidence, for all that she remains winless on turf following 15 attempts. Coviglia has improved this season and looks sure to give another good account, while Crazy Tornado will be a danger to all if bouncing back, given that he’s now 8 lb below his last winning mark.

4.40 Get So Much More With Racing UK Handicap (4) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
90 6. GLASSES UP R. Mike Smith Paddy Mathers
89 1. REMEMBER THE DAYS Jedd O’Keeffe Tom Eaves
88 3. GWORN R. Mike Smith P. J. McDonald

Analyst’s Verdict:
Glasses Up made it 2-2 over this C&D on his handicap debut recently and, with a 4 lb rise fair and the possibility of even better to come, he looks the one to be on. Universal Gleam is another low-mileage 3-y-o to consider but a bigger threat may be posed by Remember The Days, who did the job well on his last visit here in May and is now just 2 lb above that winning mark.

5.10 Western House Hotel Apprentice Handicap (5) 1m5f26y

Timeform Top Rated:
87 6. GLENBANK KING L. Smyth Oliver Stammers (5)
86 1. CORTON LAD Keith Dalgleish Josh Quinn
86 7. BRAES OF LOCHALSH Jim Goldie Robert Dodsworth (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Glenbank King wasn’t beaten far despite the steady gallop counting against him back from a 10-month layoff over C&D a fortnight ago. That spin will have blown away the cobwebs and, providing the pace is more generous this time, he could be the answer. Braes of Lochalsh and Question of Faith were separated by a whisker here last month and should go well once again, while Akamanto also has claims.
