Monday – 28th May 2018

Apologies for the slightly later than usual daily post…..well it is BH Monday on the Epsom Derby week 🙂

The main feature race is the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar (16.10) and it’s one we’re having a look at for members below.

Outside of that the only other ones of note we have is Mark Johnston’ Aclimatize who should be looking to follow up in the 16.40 at Leicester – he beat our selection Kupa River home that day. An early 3yo of note we picked up on seasonal debut goes in the earlier 14.20. Stuart Williams’ Lethal Angel. She ran a cracker at HQ LTO and the step up to 8f should pose no problems though both of these are on at a tad less than 4’s so more for you lumpers if looking.

2.30 Sky Bet Top Price Promise Fillies’ Handicap (4) 1m3f99y

Timeform Top Rated:
99+ 1. GREAT WHITE SHARK James Fanshawe Daniel Muscutt
98 5. VILLETTE Dean Ivory Rob Hornby
98 7. FROWN Ralph Beckett Louis Steward

Analyst’s Verdict:
Frown finished clear of the rest when finding only Sputnik Planum too strong at Chelmsford, form which the winner franked when going in again next time. Likely to benefit from an easy lead here, Ralph Beckett’s charge gets the nod. Great White Shark found listed company too much on her final 2017 start but looked promising prior to that and is feared most ahead of All My Love.

3.05 Sky Bet Fast Withdrawal Novice Auction Stakes (5) (D.I) 6f12y

Timeform Top Rated:
74 5. OLOROSO Andrew Balding Rob Hornby

Analyst’s Verdict:
This looks destined for one of the newcomers and Seductive Moment could be the pick of them. She represents an in-form yard, which is enjoying plenty of success with its 2-y-os this season, and it will look significant if the market speaks in her favour. Gunforhire and So Hi Storm are others to monitor closely in the betting.

3.40 Sky Bet Fast Withdrawal Novice Auction Stakes (5) (D.II) 6f12y

Timeform Top Rated:
72p 4. GREELEY Rod Millman William Carson
68 9. VERY STABLE GENIUS Joseph Tuite Liam Keniry

Analyst’s Verdict:
Urban Icon and Quirky Gertie both represent yards that are typically strong in the 2-y-o department. The betting will naturally be informative but, as things stand, marginal preference is for Richard Hannon’s charge. Greeley is by far the most appealing of those with experience, while So Hi Class and Society Shock both need a market check.

4.15 Sky Bet Racing Cash Out Novice Stakes (5) 5f21y

Timeform Top Rated:
93 1. AL ASEF Marco Botti Daniel Muscutt
88 4. KIMIFIVE Joseph Tuite William Buick
79 3. HOW FAR Simon Crisford Jack Mitchell

Analyst’s Verdict:
It’s hard to look beyond Al Asef, who landed a decent AW novice event on his final 2-y-o start and a mere reproduction of that would suffice here, despite having to concede weight all round. Kimifive and How Far can fill the places.

4.50 Sky Bet Price Boosts Handicap (Qualifier) (2) 5f21y

Timeform Top Rated:
115p 2. KODITIME Clive Cox Adam Kirby
114 1. LAKE VOLTA Mark Johnston William Buick
112 6. JOEGOGO David Evans John Egan

Analyst’s Verdict:
Koditime got firmly back on track when making a winning handicap bow at York recently. He was returning from a 10-month break that day so is entitled to come on for the run and should prove hard to beat having gone up just 4 lb. Lake Volta has been knocking on the door of late and is next best ahead of Cowboy Soldier.

5.25 Sky Bet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap (3) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
109 3. MORDIN Simon Crisford William Buick
108 5. BREDEN Linda Jewell Robert Winston
108 6. ZZORO Amanda Perrett Pat Dobbs

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mordin tasted defeat for the first time at Ripon recently but he was only narrowly outpointed and, likely capable of better still given his low-mileage, the 4-y-o is taken to resume winning ways. Breden wasn’t disgraced in a strong Newmarket handicap last time and may emerge as the main danger, though Zzoro and Turnpike Trip also need considering.

5.55 Dave & Anita Cornish Wedding Celebration Handicap (4) 6f12y

Timeform Top Rated:
104+ 6. MULLIONHEIR John Best Jamie Spencer
103 3. SIX STRINGS Eve Johnson Houghton Charles Bishop
102 5. BAHAMIAN DOLLAR David Evans David Egan (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Having shaped as though in need of the run on return at Ascot, Mullionheir is likely to strip fitter now and may well be the answer to a handicap in which very few can be ruled out with confidence. Six Strings struggled in the Victoria Cup last time but this is a less taxing assignment and he has to be feared. Glory of Paris also merits respect, along with Bahamian Dollar and Daschas.

6.25 Stoke Park Hotel And Spa Handicap (5) 1m31y

Timeform Top Rated:
93p 10. PACO’S PRINCE Charlie Fellowes Stevie Donohoe
90 3. SIMPLY BREATHLESS Clive Cox Adam Kirby
88 11. MANKIND George Scott David Egan (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Paco’s Prince escapes a penalty for last week’s handicap debut success at Kempton and, with the promise of better to come, he will take plenty of stopping if proving equally effective back on turf. Herdwick was disappointing at Ascot last time but remains capable of better, while the consistent Simply Breathless is also in with a shout.

Check these guys out if you haven't already heard of them!

We think you should check out the service from the guys from Cleeve – they target higher end c2+ than ourselves and have got off to a good start this season. Have a look around their site linked below with a past results visible. Our selections shouldn’t clash due to the nature of races we tend to get involved with and should be a nice complimentary and personal service from Nick & the guys to run alongside our own this summer.
