Ahead of ‘Glorious Goowdwood’ starting tomorrow there’s a couple of meetings at Ayr and Windsor today….after bemoaning the lack of runners of late, there’s finally some decent cards today and a chance to look at something that commands double digit prices instead of the more wipes yer face charges we have been faced with this month and perhaps the reason that we haven’t kicked on through July?

For those following past selections, Saturday’s non-runner, ROUNDABOUT MAGIC is quickly re-entered by Simon Dow at Lingfield (13.50) on the AW, we had noted him on the weekend dropping to a C6 for the first time this season having acquitted himself well enough this term. However, he’s back out in a C4 where he has struggled previously and the race we had noted him in when he followed home our winner Glamorous Rocket subsequent win was a C5 – in a 7 runner goes as the outsider of the bunch and hardly a recommendation.

Another previous selection, Mywayistheonlyway goes in the (15.30) and only offers wipes yer face prices – consistent this term we’ll pass that one over and we’ll be noting the performance of Keith Dalgleish’s 3yo, My Capricho who could well be well treated off a handicap debut of 73, though just coming back of wind surgery.

We’ve just one for members going  at Ayr below and Timeform to back up the meeting  below.

1.30 Racing UK EBF Novice Stakes (5) 5f110y

Timeform Top Rated:
94p 1. MAGICAL WISH Richard Hannon Rossa Ryan (3)
88p 4. EPONA Keith Dalgleish Phillip Makin
81p 2. RODERICK Richard Fahey Tony Hamilton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Magical Wish made amends for his narrow debut defeat when scoring at Windsor a fortnight ago and should have more to give yet. He can follow up in the opener. Epona will have learnt plenty from her recent Hamilton racecourse bow and rates the principal danger.

2.00 Wemyss Bay Holiday Park Handicap (6) (D.I) 7f50y

Timeform Top Rated:
77 10. MECCA’S SPIRIT Michael Dods Paula Muir (5)
76 4. INGLORIOUS Keith Dalgleish Callum Rodriguez (3)
73 1. JESSIE ALLAN Jim Goldie George Downing

Analyst’s Verdict:
This can go to sole 3-y-o representative Mecca’s Spirit, who upped her game considerably when decisively taking a similar event over C&D a week ago and has less miles on the clock than her rivals. The well-handicapped Inglorious will be dangerous if building on his season’s best effort last time, whilst My Valentino is also respected.

2.30 Wemyss Bay Holiday Park Handicap (6) (D.II) 7f50y

Timeform Top Rated:
78 12. SIR DERRICK Tim Easterby David Allan
74 5. ZORAVAN Keith Dalgleish Tom Eaves
73 3. MY GIRL MAISIE Richard Guest Clifford Lee (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Sir Derrick benefited from the drop in trip and application of headgear when second at Redcar last week and gets the vote in a tricky-looking contest. Pop Telecom and Be Bold head the list of dangers.

3.00 Sundrum Castle Holiday Park Handicap (4) 2m1f105y

Timeform Top Rated:
85 7. QUESTION OF FAITH Martin Todhunter Callum Rodriguez (3)
84 3. SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN Brian Ellison David Allan
84 4. BUONARROTI Declan Carroll Ger O’Neill (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Question of Faith has acquitted herself well here the last twice and is effective on all types of ground. She makes fair appeal in what looks a competitive contest. Golden Jeffrey and Braes of Lochalsh are other key players.

3.30 Sandylands Holiday Park Handicap (4) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
92 4. LAGENDA Lawrence Mullaney Faye McManoman (7)
91+ 9. MI CAPRICHO Keith Dalgleish Phillip Makin
90 2. TWO FOR TWO Roger Fell Tony Hamilton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Lagenda was only having his second start for Lawrence Mullaney when landing a Haydock handicap last time and remains fairly treated (placed off 7 lb higher mark last term). He can go in again. Mywayistheonlyway arrives in fine form and is feared most, whilst Kharbetation and Royal Shaheen are also respected.

4.00 Western House Handicap (3) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
104 3. NICHOLAS T Jim Goldie George Downing
103 2. DUBAI HORIZON Saeed bin Suroor David Allan
102+ 5. SPEED COMPANY John Quinn Phillip Makin

Analyst’s Verdict:
Nicholas T goes well at this course and looked unlucky not to win here (short of room at business end) a fortnight ago. He is taken to make amends. Ventura Dragon lurks dangerously at the bottom of the weights and must be respected, whilst any rain would bolster the claims of Indian Chief.

4.30 Parkdean Resorts Handicap (4) 6f

Timeform Top Rated:
93 8. ROYAL RESIDENCE James Tate David Allan
92 6. SARYSHAGANN David O’Meara David Nolan
91 1. DESERT FROST Saeed bin Suroor P. J. McDonald

Analyst’s Verdict:
Royal Residence has taken his form up a notch since stepping into handicaps and was only just foiled at Haydock last time. Still relatively unexposed, there could be more to come yet and he can land the spoils. There are plenty of dangers however, with Desert Frost and Tommy G particularly respected.

5.00 Southerness Holiday Park Handicap (6) 5f

Timeform Top Rated:
73 1. CAMANCHE GREY Ben Haslam Graham Lee
70 12. HOUSE OF CARDS Iain Jardine Jamie Gormley (3)
70 3. THORNABY PRINCESS Colin Teague Paula Muir (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Camanche Grey ran a cracker when runner-up in a stronger contest earlier this month and won’t mind any rain that’s fallen. He makes fair appeal in the finale. Brendan, Thornaby Princess and Your Just Desserts make up the shortlist.
