Ascot holds the Shergar Cup meet and looking there the only ones on our radar are Mark Johnston’s Bayshore Freeway who is upped in class in this one (15.25) and holds EW claims. In the (16.00) John Quinn’s Shaheen goes under Fran Berry and also Nigel Tinkler’s Roundhay Park – NT is smashing it up with his 3yo’s at the moment but neither offer any real EW value.

At Haydock, previously backed Frank Bridge was going in the (15.40) he’s another we’ve been waiting for some cut and despite the last days heavy rain, the course is still running G/F – G and with many others he’s been pulled this morning with a drying forecast today.

We’re sticking to the North with one at Redcar this afternoon and one from the evening meeting at Ayr……Timeform is for the HQ card today.

A field of newcomers, and the market should offer plenty of extra clues, but Hello Bangkokgets the nod as things stand. A sister to smart 7f winner Fadhayyil, she cost 200,000 gns when re-sold earlier this year, and ticks plenty of boxes. Shambolic has plenty to recommend her too, while Hawthorn Rose will also be popular for the Sir Michael Stoute/Andrea Atzeni combination.

Greenback Boogie’s third in a big-field event at Glorious Goodwood surely represents solid form and he gets the nod under Dettori. Eyelool is progressing steadily and rates a big threat for the William Haggas team, while Pogo is nicely handicapped if recapturing the level of his first 2 outings.

Danceteria, Kaanoon and Caliburn all fit the profile of upwardlymobile 3-y-os getting plenty of weight from the bulk of their rivals, so the chances are that they’ll come to the fore here. They’re hard to split, but the first named has shown he’s at home on this track and has the benefit of a confident claimer taking a further 3 lb off, so he gets the narrow vote.

Pennywhistle won a C&D novice with the minimum of fuss last month and is selected to take the step up in class in her stride. There’s little to separate Main Edition and La Pelosa on Albany form, although the latter wasn’t at her best when behind the reopposing Ajrar in a Sandown listed event over this trip last time.
