Trainers Quotes

St Leger Day today with supporting Timeform but there’s nothing for us at that meet………would like to get involved in the C2 Portland handicap with the obvious chances of Dakota Gold going for Michael Dods who we have had a couple with in the last few weeks. The trainer is clearly in-form but under 10’s in a very competitive affair is not really for us and as usual we look to the supporting meets for some interest.

Yesterday we had wipes yer face with Fastar as the members selection ran 3rd backed at 11/2 and those who follow the intro notes and backed Intense Style at Chester in the ‘gentleman’s amateurs’ managed a lumping price 5/2 winner albeit there was around 4’s early doors. Charles Bishop couldn’t get on terms with the first two home and perhaps he’s a bit high in the weights at the moment – talking of who, Bishop has an excellent chance on Secret Fact at Bath (15.45) this afternoon for those of you looking for small EW acca’s outside of the members selections below.

Another to consider there (17.35) would be Hugo Palmer’s Ghayadh who looks better than his current mark – we noted him winning well at Carlisle and he followed that up with a 2nd. The are upping him up to 8f today but he’s finished his races well and just a 6 runner stops us really making an EW play.

BOL with your bets today and we will take a day at church tomorrow rather than Ffos Las or Bath…..

Back Monday around 8.00am….though it could be Tuesday at Redcar before our next betting opportunity with just that Brighton meeting on the opening day of the week.

1.50 William Hill Portland Handicap (2) 5f143y

Timeform Top Rated:
123 18. DAKOTA GOLD Michael Dods Connor Beasley
121 5. GOLDEN APOLLO Tim Easterby David Allan
120 11. WENTWORTH FALLS Geoffrey Harker Sam James

Analyst’s Verdict:
Things didn’t go Dakota Gold‘s way in the Thirsk handicap won by Muscika and, with a strong pace guaranteed here, he is taken to strike. Stablemate Holmeswood has also slipped to an attractive mark and looks a big threat with Silvestre De Sousa again in the hot-seat, having finished third under the champion jockey at York last time. Dougan should be on the premises and Open Wide also has claims.

2.25 Alan Wood Plumbing And Heating Park Stakes (Group 2) (1) 7f6y

Timeform Top Rated:
131 5. MUSTASHRY Sir Michael Stoute Jim Crowley
129 1. ABOVE THE REST David Barron Silvestre De Sousa
128 3. D’BAI Charlie Appleby William Buick

Analyst’s Verdict:
This looks an open renewal of this Group 2, but preference is for Mustashry, who was supplemented for this race on Monday and has the best form on offer. Admittedly, none of that form has come over 7f, but he has shown enough speed at times to suggest he would have no problem dropping back in trip. The consistent pair Oh This Is Us and Breton Rock (2016 winner) have each-way appeal.

3.00 Howcroft Industrial Supplies Champagne Stakes (Group 2) (1) 7f6y

Timeform Top Rated:
132p 6. TOO DARN HOT John Gosden Frankie Dettori
123p 5. PHOENIX OF SPAIN Charles Hills James Doyle
122p 1. DARK VISION Mark Johnston Silvestre De Sousa

Analyst’s Verdict:
Too Darn Hot was deeply impressive in the Solario 2 weeks ago and it’s hard to see past him if turning up in similar form, particularly as Vintage winner Dark Vision has to concede him 3 lb. Phoenix of Spain did it well in the Acomb at York’s Ebor meeting and is another who should have a say in what looks a very strong renewal of this Group 2.

3.35 William Hill St Leger Stakes (Group 1) (1) 1¾m115y

Timeform Top Rated:
138p 11. LAH TI DAR John Gosden Frankie Dettori
136 2. KEW GARDENS Aidan O’Brien Ryan Moore
135 1. DEE EX BEE Mark Johnston Silvestre De Sousa

Analyst’s Verdict:
Lah Ti Dar looked top class when turning a listed race into a procession at York last month and she can keep her unbeaten record intact and give John Gosden a fourth win in 12 years in the final British Classic. Kew Gardens ran a big race under his Group 1-penalty behind Old Persian in the Voltigeur when left with plenty to do and has obvious claims. Loxley is preferred of the Godolphin pair.

4.10 Napoleons Casinos & Restaurants Nursery Handicap (2) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
104 5. RAJINSKY Tom Dascombe Richard Kingscote
102 2. INDIAN VICEROY Hughie Morrison William Buick
101 3. LEROY LEROY Richard Hannon Andrea Atzeni

Analyst’s Verdict:
Indian Viceroy‘s confidence should be flying high following back-to-back victories and he could be up to completing the hat-trick returning to a nursery with this step up in trip likely to suit. Rajinsky’s opening mark could prove a lenient one and he is feared most ahead of the consistent Leroy Leroy.

4.45 P J Towey Construction Ltd Handicap (2) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
124 2. OSTILIO Simon Crisford Andrea Atzeni
123 5. AQUARIUM Mark Johnston Silvestre De Sousa
122 1. WHISKY BARON William Haggas William Buick

Analyst’s Verdict:
Ostilio‘s impressive Britannia win is still fresh in the mind, and given he improved again despite meeting with defeat in a Group 3 at Goodwood last time, he looks the way to go making just his eighth start. None of the five can be ruled out though, with former Lincoln-winner Bravery one to note in particular having not been seen to best effect at York on the back of an encouraging run at Redcar.

5.55 Cliff Stud Rearing Winners Handicap (2) 1m3f197y

Timeform Top Rated:
112p 5. DUBAWI PRINCE Roger Varian Andrea Atzeni
111 1. STAR OF THE EAST Mark Johnston Silvestre De Sousa
111 2. BYRON FLYER Ian Williams William Buick

Analyst’s Verdict:
Dubawi Prince is just the type to reward his trainer’s typically patient approach and can strike again if coming on from his impressive reappearance win at Newmarket last month. Royal Reserve could be the one for the forecast.
