Another frustrating 4th place at 14’s for Dawaaleeb last night couldn’t add to our tally of winners and get heading back northwards….that’s now 3 on the bounce. We’re straight into a Saturday Ripon has one it’s biggest meets with both The Great St Wilfrid and the prior consolation sprint races. Nothing solid in those but the likes of Golden Apollo and Teruntum Star look decent EW shouts at north of 8’s for those looking and Frank Bridge runs in the 16.25 at Ripon though still looks a little high in the weights and the going needs to come a little softer so hopefully we can make a play on that one in the coming months.

One of our last big winners, Richard Fahey’s Andoc is back out bat at around 9/2 not one we’ll be taking on with that money in the bank, whilst Harome has given us decent returns and will certainly benefit being dropped back today at Donny in the (16.00). In that race we will be noting David Loughnane’s Shepherds Purse imported from Ireland – this looks like a sharpening run at the minimum trip.

We’ve got two runners for members today posted below with Timeform for the Newbury meeting.

1.50 Denford Stakes (Listed) (1) 7f

Timeform Top Rated:
115p 2. BOITRON Richard Hannon Silvestre De Sousa
113p 5. ANTONIA DE VEGA Ralph Beckett Harry Bentley
107 3. GOOD FORTUNE Charlie Appleby James Doyle

Analyst’s Verdict:
Preference is for Boitron, who created a very good impression on debut here in July and, though no more than workmanlike when making it 2-2 at Doncaster recently, he remains a colt of considerable potential. Antonia de Vega also has a bright future judged on her winning start at Newmarket and she looks dangerous, as does runaway Lingfield winner Good Fortune.

2.25 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Geoffrey Freer Stakes (Group 3) (1) 1m5f61y

Timeform Top Rated:
127 2. DAL HARRAILD William Haggas Ryan Moore
126 1. ALGOMETER David Simcock Jim Crowley
122 5. WALTON STREET Charlie Appleby Adam Kirby

Analyst’s Verdict:
An emphatic winner of what looked a strong Newmarket handicap last time, Hamada is expected to take this step up in class in his stride. Indeed, with just half-a-dozen runs under his belt he remains with potential and could be a smart performer in the making. Stablemate Walton Street and unexposed 3-y-o Raymond Tusk merit respect but bigger threats may be posed by Dal Harraild and Algometer.

3.00 Laurent-Perrier Handicap (3) 7f

Timeform Top Rated:
109 3. SABADOR Ed Walker Gerald Mosse
108p 2. LA RAV Luca Cumani James Doyle
108 6. MIZAAH Owen Burrows Jim Crowle

Analyst’s Verdict:
A chance is taken on La Rav, who has been absent for the best part of a year but he was largely progressive in 2017 and the booking of James Doyle suggests that connections mean business. Sabador is a big player judged on his solid effort in the Victoria Cup and Mizaah, another returning from a layoff, needs considering on debut for Owen Burrows. The unexposed Mystic Flight is also of interest.

3.35 Ladyswood Stud Hungerford Stakes (Group 2) (1) 7f

Timeform Top Rated:
131 4. LIBRISA BREEZE Dean Ivory Robert Winston
130 6. GUSTAV KLIMT Aidan O’Brien Ryan Moore
127 7. YAFTA Richard Hannon Jim Crowley

Analyst’s Verdict:
This represents a drop in class for Gustav Klimt, who has been plying his trade in top races over a mile this season and the drop back in trip may also prove beneficial (3-3 over 7f). He is preferred to Librisa Breeze, albeit only marginally as Dean Ivory’s charge shaped as though close to concert pitch when fourth in a French Group 1 recently. Sir Dancealot also enters calculations.

4.10 Racing To School British EBF Maiden Stakes (3) 1½m

Timeform Top Rated:
99p 5. SEXTANT Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore
98p 4. PRABENI William Haggas James Doyle
96 6. LADY BAKER John Gosden Nicky Mackay

Analyst’s Verdict:
Sextant finished well clear of the rest when chasing home a potentially-useful type on debut at Nottingham, and he is taken to go one better this time. Prabeni should benefit from this step up in trip and is a muchrespected main danger, while Lady Baker may also have a part to play in the finish.

4.40 Wellchild Handicap (4) 1¼m

Timeform Top Rated:
96p 8. HIDDEN DEPTHS Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore
95 2. SWISS STORM Michael Bell Louis Steward
95 6. SIMOON Ed Walker Gerald Mosse

Analyst’s Verdict:
It’s hard not to be drawn to Hidden Depths, who chased home a potentially-smart colt at Doncaster last time and makes his handicap debut off what could turn out to be a lenient mark. The hat-trick seeking Red Force One and Swiss Storm both make each-way appeal and Come On Come On also merits respect.

5.15 Sportsguide Handicap (Lady Amateur Riders) (4) 1½m

Timeform Top Rated:
111 5. OUTOFTHEQUESTION Alan King Miss Serena Brotherton
110 10. PERLA BLANCA Ed Dunlop Miss Sophie Smith (5)
110 2. TAPIS LIBRE Jacqueline Coward Miss Joanna Mason

Analyst’s Verdict:
Successful here on his last two starts, Outofthequestion looks the one to be on with Serena Brotherton in the hot-seat. Indeed, she has partnered six of the last 10 winners of this handicap, including two for Outofthequestion’s trainer Alan King. Dell’ Arca and Shufoog are both feared back in this sphere off attractive marks but Perla Blanca, Luv U Whatever and Tapis Libre rate the main dangers.
