Despite missing out on MR STRUTTER in July we were well rewarded backing him for the second time this season as he does what he seems to do best saving his best for Thirsk and a nice 9/1 pick up to ensure we ended the month in profit to the tune of round £300 with a few crossbars hit in the last 10 days or so. That was his 3rd win from 4 runs at the course plus a 4th of 11 last time we backed him. He’s clearly at home here and from one of our favourite smaller gambling stables of Ron Thompson who has given us big winners with the likes of Johnny Cavagin in recent times

A pity Our Charlie Brown couldn’t get on terms with the ‘midgemeisters’ winner in the next but at least it paid a marginally better than wipes yer face to ensure profits – finally, Kenny The Captain wasn’t disgraced finishing only 4l down in 8th in a close finish in the 16.45 – he’s definitely one we will be following on next few runs, especially in a C4 – that 8th place will hopefully go unnoticed and we’ll get a price about him before the season is out.

Finally at Wolves we recommended Christmas Night a few times and he did indeed get up for you lumpers at 13/8 under SDS.

On to today……

That’s 5 consecutive months of profit for the flat and hopefully we can kick through this £3k and onwards through September after we have threatened the winners enclosure a few times in the last 2 weeks. Today there’s action from Beverley, Chester & Sandown with Timeform below for the latter.

We’ve an early one for members at Sandown below and later will be taking note of Tomahawk Kid’s run in the 17.20 – he’s being dropped to more of a winning trip but still looks a few pounds in excess of a winning mark but one to note through autumn.

There’s nothing at Chester, though the big C2 sprint does feature Jason Hart with a decent draw on Reputation for those looking at EW acca’s today – not a 5f specialist, the extra 1/2f here may see some improvement and the jock is so strong in a finish, from trap 2 alongside the pacy Bossipop may just see him around the enclosure?

Finally we have a couple of decent handicaps at Beverley where we have one for members.

For those on the £1k to £10k challenge….our bank has NOW grown by over 150% to over £2.5k with an ROI of over 25%….current stakes are now £31.99 EW.

Today’s Selections

A cracking winner yesterday and we’re not too down on Kenny The Captain as he was only 4 lengths off the winner in 8th – hopefully will go unnoticed by many and we get a decent price before the seasons out – Our Charlie gave another solid run for a wipes yer face  bet.

Sandown 13.50

Michael Dods string are still in good order following York popping in a winner yesterday at Carlisle with Archi’s Affaire……we backed INTENSE ROMANCE LTO to decent placed effect at Carlisle. He didn’t race as a 2yo but was a 6 time winner last year culminating in a  big race York C2……he races off an unchanged mark today and should have come on a bit for that Carlisle run having been lightly campaigned this term.

He’s another we expect to notch in the coming months with some cut in the going and with the price double digit with a best 16/1 with Betfair about him with FOUR PAYING PLACES this morning it would be a shame too miss out if he pops early.

Sandown 13.50 – Intense Romance

Beverley 15.20

Despite our liking for Our Little Pony who will certainly give a run for the money with his excellent relationship with Faye McManoman up top he get’s a bit of a widish draw here to contend with and Ger O’Neils MUSHARIFF may take advantage. LTO was given a stretch at 7f and now drops to the minimum where he best and well below his highest winning rating.

Another of 3 or 4 of these with an excellent course record he gets an apparent excellent draw and a likely toe off Bondi Beach Baby who will look to make all from Trap 1.

We’ll take the best 15/2 with Betfred  about him this morning.

Beverley 15.20 – Musharrif

1.50 188Bet Extra Place Races Handicap (3) 5f10y

Analyst’s Verdict:
A winner of 2 of his 3 starts since joining this yard, Rapid Applause remains on an attractive mark based on his useful 2-y-o form and makes plenty of appeal back from a break here. Indeed, he’s well drawn and the booking of Frankie Dettori suggests that connections mean business. With Bahamian Sunrise and Jashma both drawn wide, Compas Scoobie and Rio Ronaldo may emerge as the main dangers.

2.25 Best Odds Guaranteed At 188Bet Handicap (2) 1m1f209y

Analyst’s Verdict:
David Menuisier saddled the winner of this race last year and can repeat the dose with History Writer, who did the job well when opening his account here prior to catching the eye at Newmarket. This step up in trip promises to help unlock further improvement and he gets the nod ahead of the progressive Red Force One. Almoreb is also considered, along with Communique and Mountain Angel.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Few fillies in training boast a better pedigree than Veracious, who has acquitted herself well in Group 1 company this year, including when third in the Nassau at Glorious Goodwood. Back down in class/trip here and with the promise of better to come, she will prove hard to beat. Laugh Aloud is entitled to need the run following a lengthy layoff but is nevertheless feared most ahead of Awesometank.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Too Darn Hot oozed star potential when landing a maiden in good style here last month and several big-race entries, including the Dewhurst, would suggest that the Dubawi colt is expected to take this step up in class in his stride. The promising Watan is marginally preferred to Confiding and Arthur Kitt for forecast purposes.

4.10 188Bet Supports The NSPCC Nursery Handicap (Qualifier) (4) 7f

Analyst’s Verdict:
The one who appeals most is Barristan The Bold, who very much caught the eye when a strong-finishing fifth in a big-field Glorious Goodwood nursery last time. Reconnaissance brings potential to the table now pitched into a nursery and is next best ahead of Uncle Jerry and Steeve.

4.45 188Bet Mobile Bet10 Get20 Handicap (4) 1m

Analyst’s Verdict:
There were positives to glean from Repton’s effort in a competitive Newbury handicap a fortnight ago, and he could be the answer to this tricky-looking puzzle. Pheidippides has been knocking on the door since switched to handicaps and should be in the mix, while Dragons Voice, Roller and Secret Return are others to consider.

5.20 Read Silvestre de Sousa At 188Bet Handicap (4) 1m1f209y

Analyst’s Verdict:
While Dive For Gold proved a disappointment on his handicap debut at Newbury, he couldn’t be in better hands and is well worth another chance given that he appeared to be going the right way prior to that. Compton Mill has to be feared under Silvestre De Sousa following his C&D victory but a bigger threat may be posed by Tomahawk Kid. Dream Machine also enters calculations.
