Desperately unlucky last night as we hit the crossbar with Hart Stopper finishing a fast closing head 2nd at Newmarket 🙁   …..the only consolation being the drift from 10’s out to 16’s for the EW portion of the bet. Merry Banter finished one outside of the slots at Haydock, so quickly move onto a Sunday meet at Ponty with some rare C1 Listed action at the course.

There’s a couple of shortish priced ones we noted going….in the 14.30 Mark Johnston has Bayshore Freeway out – the nature of her win LTO when getting headed and then battling back to take the race readily suggested we’d not get much of a price next time out. However, the nature of the company she’s keeping in this makes her around 7/2 in this 5 runner up against Ryan Moore popping up for a couple of rides for Sir Micheal Stoute and on Hazarfiya in this. Johnston had an excellent Ascot and Franny Norton could well try to win this from the front – it’s may be one for those who could get a bit of near ‘wipes yer face’ EW 4’s, though despite that it’s not one for us to get involved with for member selections and we’ll see whee she pops up next?

In the 16.30, Crotchet hit all sorts of trouble in running at Ripon (20.05.18) but came back out over this C&D  a couple of weeks back. It went a 7 runner and the 100/30 was no value for us and she finished a close 2nd to Shaheen. Today’s price isn’t any better with only 5 going to post and with Excellent Times in the line up. It’s another one for us to skip over and look for our members EW value selection in the 17.00.

Thimbleweed was only beaten by a talented pair that had the benefit of experience in a strong race at Sandown first-time out and a chunk of improvement is expected from this wellbred filly. She gets the nod to overcome another promising sort in Beauvais and the well-bred Hazarfiya.

Dr Richard Kimble is a likeable and progressive 3-y-o whose prominent racing style should lend itself to this track, so he boasts outstanding claims of gaining his third success of the campaign in receipt of a generous weight-for-age allowance from his main rivals Rainbow Rebel and Cote d’Azur, who are both considered.

Cribbs Causeway clearly wasn’t 100% on the day in a Group 3 at Haydock 2 weeks ago but she was most progressive prior to that and is worth another chance. Titi Makfi is a big player despite her penalty, while Alwaysandforever is a lightly-raced and improving filly.

Analyst’s Verdict:
Crotchet got her career firmly back on track when a close second over C&D a couple of weeks ago and has the potential to build upon that now. Excellent Times is another who was only narrowly denied last time and can give Richard Fahey’s charge most to think about.

Analyst’s Verdict:
A big run is on the cards from Round The Island, a C&D winner who has dropped a tad more in the weights despite a good effort here a fortnight ago. Araqeel wasn’t far behind the selection on that occasion and looks set to be winning again soon. Bibbidibobbidiboo can’t be ignored in her hat-trick bid.
