(15.00) Michele Strogoff has been consistent all season……SDS will look to make all but Paul Hanagan on ALMUNTHER looks a slightly better proposition in terms of value. However the late defection of Michael Bell’s Never Been to Paris leaves this a 7 runner and nothing strong enough to warrant a play.

In the (16.05) we have backed Sheepscar Lad for a win at Donny on the soft, today’s conditions are more likely to suit than the recent efforts but all his best form has come at 5f and is one we will be looking at as the ground and current rating eases. HIGHLY SPRUNG has more EW wipes yer face value about him, Les Eyre’s charge has proven C&D form and though up in the ratings back to a highest 83 still looks the one who is best drawn from a pace angle.

Michele Strogoff deserves credit for his consistency and the booking of De Sousa can help end his losing run. Almunther is dangerous if allowed an easy lead around here again, while Roddy may still do better now handicapping.

Zetland Gold Cup winner Big Country is certainly good enough to open his account at listed level, and with the assistance of Silvestre De Sousa in what could be a tactical affair, he gets the narrow vote ahead of the promising 3-y-o Gabr, with Another Touch and the in-form Salateen both considered in a tightly-knit affair.

Requinto Dawn is at the top of his game at the moment and, given the forecast rain, a wide draw mightn’t be quite the negative that it often can be at this track, so he can go one better than the last twice at the expense of another thriving sort in Mr Wagyu. Highly Sprung boasts an excellent record here and shouldn’t be discounted.

Musharrif‘s losing run is a slight concern but he’s been thereabouts of late and might be up to getting his head back in front. Canford Bay arrives on the back of a runner-up effort at Haydock and can go well again, while Scoundrel was a bit keen for his own good through the early stages at Beverley at the start of the week and is likely still in form.
