Absolutely gutted for the 3 Lions last night – at least it wasn’t a penalty shoot out exit in a game where we looked to sit back….or were made to defend by  team who could hold onto the ball and dominate from half time onwards 🙁 – yet it was another good night as our FOC bet landed as we only just about managed to get the  £25 In-play bet on before Kieran Tripper banged home that free kick with us managing to get a best price 14’s on that one 🙂

Back to racing matters and today has a feel of a Saturday about it with the number of meets and the start of the Newmarket July meeting – there’s a FOC download from the speedmeisters HERE that covers off the entire meets top class races plus there’s further views with the days opening card below. 1.50 Bahrain Trophy Stakes (Group 3) (1) 1m5f
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 118 125 124 124 129 (Avg 124)

Analyst’s Verdict:
First Eleven looked a Group horse in the making when unlucky not to win the King George V Stakes (Handicap) at Royal Ascot 3 weeks ago and can provide John Gosden with a sixth win in this event. Loxley was impressive when making a winning return here and has more improvement in him, while this represents a drop in class for Giuseppe Garibaldi.

Timeform Top Rated:
124 4. GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI Aidan O’Brien Ryan Moore
123p 3. FIRST ELEVEN John Gosden Frankie Dettori
123p 6. LOXLEY Charlie Appleby William Buick

2.25 Arqana July Stakes (Group 2) (1) 6f
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 122 132 128 122 121 (Avg 125)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Legends of War’s participation in the Coventry would have made for an even more compelling race, disappointing that he missed it due to a minor infection, but he can build on his huge debut performance to maintain his unbeaten record here at the expense of another highly talented sort in Advertise. Konchek should relish this trip and shouldn’t be completely dismissed.

Timeform Top Rated:
124p 2. ADVERTISE Martyn Meade Frankie Dettori
117P 6. LEGENDS OF WAR John Gosden Oisin Murphy
115 5. KONCHEK Clive Cox Adam Kirby

3.00 bet365 Handicap (2) 6f

Analyst’s Verdict:
Several to consider but Jawwaal and Tribal Quest stand out from both a handicapping and potential point of view. The latter isn’t passed over lightly but Jawwaal was arguably unlucky not to prevail in the big York handicap won by Encrypted and, therefore, is potentially well treated off the same mark. Encrypted should again be involved, while the Hannon duo, Buridan and Embour, also merit respect.

Timeform Top Rated:
122p 11. TRIBAL QUEST Charlie Appleby William Buick
121p 18. JAWWAAL John Gosden Andrea Atzeni
121 17. BURIDAN Richard Hannon Hayley Turner

3.35 Princess of Wales’s Arqana Racing Club Stakes (Group 2) (1) 1½m
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 129 130 131 134 132 (Avg 131)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Mirage Dancer wasn’t seen to best effect at Royal Ascot, and given he has the potential to rate higher still, he’s taken to enhance Sir Michael Stoute’s excellent record in this race. Barsanti is a thoroughly likeable sort who should continue to give a good account of himself, while Best Solution will find things a bit easier back in Group 2 company.

Timeform Top Rated:
128 6. MIRAGE DANCER Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore
127 3. BEST SOLUTION Saeed bin Suroor Pat Cosgrave
126 2. BARSANTI Roger Varian Andrea Atzeni

4.10 British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (2) 6f
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 101 98 108 99 94 (Avg 100)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Handmaiden and Poetry are both predominantly bred for speed and arrive on the back of highly encouraging debuts, so they’re taken against the field here with preference for the first named. Lover’s Knot is another obvious contender and Yourtimeisnow is worth a mention as the pick of the newcomers.

Timeform Top Rated:
95p 2. HANDMAIDEN John Gosden Frankie Dettori
94p 8. POETRY Michael Bell Ryan Moore
92p 5. LOVER’S KNOT Charlie Appleby William Buick

4.45 Edmondson Hall Solicitors Sir Henry Cecil Stakes (Listed) (1) 1m
Timeform Rating of previous winners: 126 126 121 131 129 (Avg 127)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Emaraaty proved to be a major disappointment in the Jersey Stakes at Ascot last month, particularly given the huge effort he produced when runner-up at Goodwood previously. On balance he’s well worth another chance and shades the vote. Jim Crowley seemingly prefers Gabr however, and he is highly respected, whilst Symbolization is also expected to feature.

Timeform Top Rated:
130 3. EMARAATY John Gosden Dane O’Neill
124 9. SYMBOLIZATION Charlie Appleby William Buick
122 4. GABR Sir Michael Stoute Jim Crowley

5.20 Saeed Suhail Saeed Handicap (2) 5f

Analyst’s Verdict:
It’s plausible Duke of Firenze is not the force of old (now a 9-y-o) but he’s hard to ignore from this sort of mark, especially with his yard showing better signs in recent days, so he earns a tentative vote. Leo Minor found a jolt of improvement for the return to patient tactics last time and he should go well again along with progressive young sprinter Shaheen.

Timeform Top Rated:
110 2. DUKE OF FIRENZE David C. Griffiths David Allan
107+ 4. OUTRAGE Daniel Kubler Robert Winston
107 3. LEO MINOR Robert Cowell William Buick
