No flat action on the turf today so we’ll be back tomorrow with a sole meet at Newmarket that has a few C3 & 4 handicaps on the card…..for anyone looking today there’s the speedmeisters views on the Sedgefield meet.

Looking back at this month….it was our sixth consecutive month of generating profit……3 north of 10/1 winners with Saturday’s 33/1 place popped another £700+ in the pot as we enter our final week on the flat 🙂 There were 4 crossbars hit and another 3 other paying places that can be classed as ‘nearlies’!

The bank is now just shy of £4000 for those on the £1k to £10k challenge….and grown to nearly 300% with an ROI of over 26%….current stakes at 1.25% are now £49.75 EW

1.20 Santander Supports Injured Jockeys Fund Handicap Hurdle (5) 2m178y

Timeform Top Rated:
109 3. OUTCROP Jennie Candlish Sean Quinlan
108§ 11. HEY BOB Chris Grant Callum Bewley
107 9. MILLIE THE MINX Dianne Sayer Colm McCormack (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Budarri twice went close during early summer and, having shaped better than the bare result on return from 4 months off at Carlisle 2 weeks ago, he could be worth chancing to open his account. Captain Brown has fallen plenty in the weights and requires a market check under Brian Hughes, whilst Outcrop is also worth a second look.

1.50 Magnificent Six Ladies of Nortonthorpe Mills Chase (Novices’ Limited Handicap) (Qualifier) (4) 2m77y

Timeform Top Rated:
130 4. CILLIAN’S WELL John Flint Richard Patrick (3)
125+ 3. DALLAS COWBOY John Wainwright Finian O’Toole (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Black Art won a couple of course handicap hurdles last winter and gets the nod to make a successful start to his chase career for the Sue Smith/Danny Cook combination. Fellow chase newcomer Charmant is another who tasted success here over timber and could be the one to give him most to do.

2.25 Northern Stayers Maiden Hurdle (Qualifier) (4) 2m5f34y

Timeform Top Rated:
130 6. SHERIFF GARRETT Tim Easterby Jamie Hamilton
125p 2. COLBY Chris Grant Brian Hughes
124 3. FAROCCO Maurice Barnes Dale Irving (3)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Sheriff Garrett is still being held back by his jumping, but he’s shown enough to suggest he’s capable of winning a race of this nature. Ask Paddington and Speedy Cargo are feared most.

2.55 Anne & Teddy Oldtimers Nortonthorpe Mills Chase (Novices’ Limited Handicap) (Qualifier) (3) 3¼m59y

Timeform Top Rated:
125+ 4. SOME KINDA LAMA Olly Murphy Aidan Coleman

Analyst’s Verdict:
Some Kinda Lama made a sound enough start for Olly Murphy over hurdles at Hereford last month and is worth chancing to leave his chase efforts for his previous yard behind. There are question marks surrounding the opposition too, but Pauls Hill will find this easier than the warm race he contested on his Chepstow chase bow last month.

3.30 Breeders Cup Exclusive To Attheraces Handicap Hurdle (3) 3m3f9y

Timeform Top Rated:
128 4. MORE THAN LUCK Olly Murphy David England
127 3. TICKENWOLF Micky Hammond Joe Colliver
125 2. WESTERN SUNRISE Johnny Farrelly Tom Cannon

Analyst’s Verdict:
More Than Luck arrives on the back of a couple of good efforts and is narrowly preferred to the consistent Western Sunrise. Same Circus was well held when last seen in the spring but has won off this mark over fences and is another who could go well after a break.

4.00 Sedgefield Racecourse Christmas Food & Drink Festival Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier) (4) 2m3f188y

Timeform Top Rated:
121 7. QUESTION OF FAITH Martin Todhunter Henry Brooke
120 5. REIVERS LODGE Susan Corbett James Corbett (5)
118 2. CHAMPAGNE TO GO Rebecca Menzies Nathan Moscrop (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
This is a rather belated second spell hurdling for Question of Faith, but she’s more than paid her way on the level in recent times and her mark is an attractive one in this sphere. Secret Escape should push her rating up this season given her bumper ability and is second choice, with Champagne To Go best of the rest.
