A nice winner as REMEMBER THE DAYS for the members with a relatively easy looking success at Ayr for Jedd O’Keeffe yesterday. We managed a BOG 11/2 in the morning but he was backed into 3/1 on the back of 3 late non-runners. There’s more improvement to come from him but we’ll have to see on prices for future outings.

There’s a big card at Sandown this evening with the feature being the Brigadier Gerard Stakes – 10f (20.00) where globetrotting entrant Poet’s Word will go off as an odds on chance and not a race for us – we’re more intersted in the last of the evening (20.40) where one we noted back at Donny and attempted to back for an EW interest at Ascot when going a N/R…Kynren goes. David Barron is expecting to land a big handicap this term with him this term following his 3rd in Donny’s Spring Mile. He ran a cracker that day on seasonal debut out of trap 19 which turned out to be ‘the wrong side’ of the course, spending most of the race on the stands rail until switched to the centre and was staying on really well at the finish (see our Lincoln Notes). However, there must be some doubt as to the going today and he could well go a late N/R again – he does have to come off a wide draw and above 10 isn’t ideal…..we will keep our powder dry about that one and post one up for member’s below.

We’ve also got one going at Catterick this afternoon and have Timeform for the Sandown meeting below for anyone looking for some inspiration or support from the speedmeisters to add to their selections….any FREE SERVICE MEMBERS looking to receive the latest premium service selections……..just follow the UPGRADE link

6.00 Matchbook Betting Exchange Handicap (Qualifier) (5) 1m1f209y

Timeform Top Rated:
96p 6. WHAT A WELCOME Patrick Chamings Joey Haynes
93 2. PUNKAWALLAH Tom Dascombe Richard Kingscote
93 4. STORMINGIN Gary Moore Ryan Moore

Analyst’s Verdict:
What A Welcome is most progressive and wasn’t fully extended when completing the hat-trick at Newbury on return last week, so makes plenty of appeal again off the same mark if this doesn’t come too soon. Punkawallah had excuses on her return and is worth another chance, while Garbanzo shaped quite well after a long absence and remains unexposed.

6.35 Matchbook Commission Free On All Sports National Stakes (Listed) (1) 5f10y

Timeform Top Rated:
113p 3. BLOWN BY WIND Mark Johnston James Doyle
109p 7. VINTAGE BRUT Tim Easterby David Allan
107 4. KINKS Mick Channon Charles Bishop

Analyst’s Verdict:
A number of these arrive with pressing claims, including Vintage Brut, who was most impressive when belying market weakness on debut at Thirsk 33 days ago, and who has the plum draw to operate from on the rail. Konchek landed a gamble on his debut at Newmarket and is feared ahead of Blown By Wind, while Richard Hannon’s Wedding Date is also worth a second look.

7.05 Matchbook Is Commission Free Heron Stakes (Listed) (1) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
131p 9. WITHOUT PAROLE John Gosden Frankie Dettori
122p 2. GABR Sir Michael Stoute Jim Crowley
121 8. VINTAGER David Menuisier Kieran Shoemark

Analyst’s Verdict:
Without Parole has all the attributes to be one of the top 3-y-os this year, so this should be no more than a formality used as a stepping stone to better things. Gabr and Dream Today both appeal as the types for ongoing progress this year and are worth keeping an eye on.

7.35 Matchbook VIP Henry II Stakes (Group 3) (1) 2m50y

Timeform Top Rated:
131 1. MAGIC CIRCLE Ian Williams Fran Berry
131 4. SHEIKHZAYEDROAD David Simcock Martin Harley
129p 8. WEEKENDER John Gosden Frankie Dettori

Analyst’s Verdict:
Weekender progressed into a smart performer last term and gave notice of better to come when scoring with plenty in hand on his return at Chelmsford a fortnight ago. He is fancied to score again. Sheikhzayedroad and Magic Circle rate the principal dangers.

8.10 Matchbook Brigadier Gerard Stakes (Group 3) (1) 1m1f209y

Timeform Top Rated:
138 5. POET’S WORD Sir Michael Stoute Ryan Moore
132 2. DESERT ENCOUNTER David Simcock Jamie Spencer
132 3. FABRICATE Michael Bell James Doyle

Analyst’s Verdict:
No obvious pace on here, but Poet’s Word is favoured by the weights and a trio of runner-up efforts in Group 1 company mark him down as the one to beat for a yard with a tremendous record in the race. Laraaib has achieved the least of these so far, but is very much the type to progress again as a 4-y-o, so is feared most.

8.40 Matchbook Betting Podcast Whitsun Cup Handicap (3) 1m

Timeform Top Rated:
117p 13. HAKEEM William Haggas Jim Crowley
115+ 14. MANDARIN Ian Williams Paddy Mathers
114 10. FRANK BRIDGE Eve Johnson Houghton Charles Bishop

Analyst’s Verdict:
Hakeem posted a much-improved effort back from an absence when winning in clear-cut fashion at Southwell on his return, and he very much appeals as the type to carry on progressing for his top yard. Firmer ground is a bit of unknown for Kynren, but he has the potential to become a fixture in the high-value mile handicaps this year, while Mandarin is interesting on first start for Ian Williams.

Check these guys out if you haven't already heard of them!

We think you should check out the service from the guys from Cleeve – they target higher end c2+ than ourselves and have got off to a good start this season. Have a look around their site linked below with a past results visible. Our selections shouldn’t clash due to the nature of races we tend to get involved with and should be a nice complimentary and personal service from Nick & the guys to run alongside our own this summer.
