12.55 Amateur Jockeys’ Association Amateur Riders’ Handicap Hurdle (4) 2¼m25y

Timeform Top Rated
115 6. PC DIXON Victor Thompson Mr W. T. Shanahan (7)
113 7. DEW POND Tim Easterby Mr William Easterby
112 4. MIDNIGHT WALK Julia Brooke Mr Joe Wright (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
A trappy contest in which it could be worth chancing Its All A Lark who makes her debut for Donald McCain. She’s a point winner who looks open to improvement now handicapping in this sphere and won’t lack for assistance in the saddle. Manetti is another who could do better now tackling handicaps, while Take A Break should be competitive dropped back in class.

1.25 Racing To Work Handicap Hurdle (3) 3m1f170y

Timeform Top Rated
137 8. LANDECKER N. W. Alexander Lucy Alexander
136 4. JUSTATENNER Tristan Davidson Harry Reed (3)
134 3. SUN CLOUD Ruth Jefferson Jamie Hamilton

Analyst’s Verdict:
Last year’s winner Landecker looks set for a big run after returning to form when second over shorter back here last time. Mighty Thunder opened his account at the same meeting and could go well again upped in trip. Justatenner should also be thereabouts.

1.55 Persimmon Homes Handicap Chase (4) 2m1f14y

Timeform Top Rated
128 2. MONSIEUR CO Keith Dalgleish Brian Hughes
127 3. ALIZEE DE JANEIRO Lucinda Russell Derek Fox
126 4. COOL VALLEY William Young Jnr Henry Brooke

Analyst’s Verdict:
Alizee de Janeiro is at the top of her game and a quick Kelso hat-trick is on the cards. Monsieur Co could resume his progress back over fences and looks the danger.

2.25 Start Your RacingTV Free Trial Now Novices’ Chase (4) 2m5f133y

Timeform Top Rated
163 1. RED INDIAN Kelly Morgan Ross Chapman
146 3. WESTERN RULES Nicky Richards Ryan Day

Analyst’s Verdict:
A penalty kick for Red Indian, who was an impressive winner on his debut over fences at Ayr before running a good race in fourth in the Grade 1 Kauto Star at Kempton on Boxing Day. Western Rules will likely be the one to strike if Kelly Morgan’s charge fails to deliver.

2.55 William Hill Leading Racecourse Bookmaker Novices’ Hurdle (4) 2m51y

Timeform Top Rated
125p 2. NORTHERN SOUL Ruth Jefferson Jamie Hamilton
121p 1. ELVIS MAIL N. W. Alexander Lucy Alexander
114 5. FULLY BOOKED Sandy Thomson Rachael McDonald (5)

Analyst’s Verdict:
Erik The Red is useful recruit from the Flat for a stable which does well with its jumpers and he’s selected to make the most of the weight he receives from previous hurdle winners Northern Soul and Elvis Mail.

3.25 Belhaven Brewery Handicap Hurdle (2) 2½m189y

Timeform Top Rated
146 5. MAHLERVOUS Warren Greatrex Sean Bowen
145 3. KATGARY Pauline Robson Danny McMenamin (7)
144 4. SKY KHAN Lucinda Russell Derek Fox

Analyst’s Verdict:
In a contest where nothing arrives with particularly compelling claims it might be worth siding with Katgary to build on last month’s return over fences as he’s now 4 lb lower than when going close here at a similar time last year. Sky Khan caught the eye a bit at Wetherby last time and is a potential danger, while Lambourn raider Mahlervous won’t be far away if recapturing his reappearance form.

3.55 Racing TV Free For A Month Standard Open National Hunt Flat (5) 2m51y

Timeform Top Rated
109 2. FOSTERED PHIL James Ewart Steven Fox (5)
104 4. MAM TRASNA D. Broad James Bowen
101 1. YES NO MAYBE SO Donald McCain Brian Hughes

Analyst’s Verdict:
A chance is taken on the Nicky Richards newcomer Glenduff, who looks a likely type on paper being a half-brother to last season’s Cheltenham Champion Bumper winner Relegate. Fostered Phil shaped nicely when runnerup on his debut in Ireland in the autumn and is an obvious threat on first run for new handler James Ewart. Musselburgh scorer Yes No Maybe So is also respected.
